hey i got a question. if anyone knows answer please tell. im stuck on th first epic level. well i think. because it has like this huge epic monster in the end that steals all your mana and its like really annoying me. i was up for all hours of the night trying to get past this level and i just couldnt do it. i think i have to restart now cuz i forgot to save but w/e i can do it again anyways up until that level. its just like so hard. i read some other posts on this game and it seemed that just about everyone was stuck on the first epic but i also have a tip that helps. use the mana upgrade so you get more points per kill and more mana but i just dont have enough towers or time to destroy the epic ill get it to like very very miniscule health and then itll hit my village. help please and thank you
I have the same problem. I am working on making sure i build towers stategically and make really good combo gems and that seems to help but I am still working on beating it.
you must max out your armor skill or get it as high as possible then get your mana pool to about 4500 mana make 4 towers near the first bends and put 3 grade 4or higher gems there try and put a purple armor reducing gem there then at the end of the path there is a lone tower put 2 more towers around it hugging the path try not to buy grade 3 gems(the diamond shaped ones) but to straight away buy the pentagon grade 4 gems ONLY MAKE PURE GEMS DO NOT COMBINE 2 DIFFERENT GEMS stop buyin stuff at about 5 waves from the last boss if it does max out then just build a water trench.only build another trench when your mana maxes out again hope this helped......although i could use some help on the 5th epic
I just finished the game last night, so maybe I can help you. I think the biggest problem with the first epic is it doesn't give you that many levels to prepare.
1. Read through the 23 page http://armorgames.com/community/thread/1045614/need-help-on-gemcraft
2. Don't worry about the armor skill. Max out the first two skills and lower gem combining/creation costs skill. From here, make sure you have over 5k mana. Try to get this 5k mana early on (before wave 25, minimum, so it can build back up to take on the boss). I suggest going for 6 or 7k so you don't accidentally max out your mana. It also is very possible to go for 10k mana and let him have 3 turns, but shooting for this could limit your ability to take on other waves. The first two skills are extremely important on most any level.
3. Ensure you have 2 level 5 (or 6) purple gems on the 2nd path arc (far right side), and 1 level 4 purple at the first arc. Move them to further towers when the boss leaves the area. This reduces armor down drastically for the 2nd turn.
4. Tower placement is very important. If you can place it in a loopy area where gems can hit once and then at a later point in the path, great.
5. If you can get 5-6 high level cyan gems, it could permanently stun the boss.
6. Set up your water traps early on in the game.
7. If you think you're going to lose, use your precious gems that you used in your towers. This is what I had to do :S
8. If you're playing for high score the first time through, and you're also really worried about losing the round, as in this one, try to place priority on just beating the round. You can replay the level (even after you win the game itself). Personally when I beat the first epic, I got less than 2/3 the score to glowing frame.
Hint: Try combining higher level gems with same color lower level ones. You get +1 to speed, range, and minimum damage for level 1 gems (make sure this works without pure gem mastery, I haven't tested that yet). With a 30k mana investment, you could have a level 2, 100 speed gem of any color This is taking into account not using lower gem combining costs.
1. Before starting, max out the first two skills and lower cost for gem creating.
2. Place a grade 3 gem near the start.
3. Find a choke point, where the path goes like this:
PPPPPPPPPPPP P P P P P P
Place towers in the middle of there, and get water traps around it.
4. Get 4 gems of grade 4+ (preferably 6 or above, but every 4 or 5 helps).
5. After you have the defense set up, spend no more mana on anything UNLESS it maxes out. Then use a mana pool. Once the boss comes you should have 20-30k mana. That'll make him have to run 7 laps around. If the worst comes to it (he's about to finish the last lap), use your high grade gems as bombs.
Side note - Using mana pool a lot increases the score rate of increase, making glowing frames very easy.
That's what I do in epic battles, and it's worked for the first 3.
souperman, Since you've worked with mana a lot, have you noticed if a much bigger mana pool regenerates mana back faster? I noticed that if you have close to max mana, you seem to gain mana back faster.
Is there a side benefit from keeping your mana full that maybe I haven't noticed? Does it start increasing your score or something?
crazynaitor, Could you explain why? This isn't like your Bloons TD thread where we just are happy to give a short opinion
I think GemCraft is fun because 1. It has a unique tower system. Specifically I like not having to work with buying and reselling. I just wish there was a crossover with this and desktop TD's system. I wish the same for Vector TD's towers. 2. Complexity of gems is as engrossing as the complexity of bloon types. 3. Map system is fitting for a puzzle type rpg. What does Bloons have? 4. It's an attempt at a story. Attempt at medals. Attempt at skills/levels. Attempt at extending strategy with per level accomplishment medals that can work towards glowing frames. 5. After you "beat" the game, you get both the suspense of waiting for chapter 2 and the desire to finish the glowing frames so you can get to the unlocked secret levels. 6. GemCraft would be harder to innovate than Bloons TD. 7. Bloons TD only is better on the fact that someone new to TD games can pick it up easier.
I could go on, but we don't need to hear about the other features I wish it had.
i have a stratagy for beginers build about 2-3 buldings and make as much gems as you can then place the gems in the buildings then once alot of monsters use some gem bombs. thats one my beginers stratagy.

Sorry it took so long to reply. Anyway, getting your mana higher does, as stated, make the boss run around the stage more, and you can conjure up some grade 6's is you need 'em. It also makes your score go up a lot faster, making glowing frames doable.
Hi I want to know if you like may strategy: -I maximize my armor level -then, in the game, I build a strong place(water trenches and pure gems 5th level) -build mana pools -then wait until your mana is full and build new gem -if the last lave is difficult (like epic boss) I let it go through my HQ and then i throw all my gems(these in the towers and in the inventory)on the boss
if ure able u should use 1 orange lvl 5+ 2 purple 6+ and 2 red 7+ in this row.. Most oppenets wont get that.. and if u got enoug mana buy trenches and new towers.. i got 395 million points now.. but i dont get how to reach 2 billion oO
