I am not quite sure if I will look forward to it, the book was more a children's book to me, and I doubt it will have success as a movie. I am currently looking more forward for The Amulet of Samarkand, whenever that gets done.
Haven't exactly read the Hobbit. But read the comic version a few times. Pretty exciting fast paced stuff with many sub-plots. And with so many dwarfs, it'll be great!
I would say the book, will be better than the movie. In my opinion after reading all of the LotR books (including the Scimarillian) The hobbit was by far the most interesting. I guess it probably had to do with the Bilbo Baggins character.

Yes...lots of interesting bits were cut out. But you can't blame them...Time limit. But it was slightly faithful. More than other movies with plots deriving from books anyways.
