It was an overdose of sleeping pills I believe. Just a bit of pot can affect you, but just one sleeping pill won't (Well except for drowsiness :P) He was just unresponsible enough with his own life. He overdosed, and killed himself.

On a different note, this really has nothing to do with this forum, it really belongs in the tavern. Unless we are actually talking about Heath Ledger, and not Batman. (Although I am sure that this thread will turn into a Batman thread.)

There are theories that say the character, the dark twisted Joker killed Heath.

*Shrugs* Who knows what really happened?! Sure it may have been an overdose, but what led to that overdose?

In my opinion, I think it was plain stupidity. There are people that accidentally overdose on heroin, etc. Sometimes it's not on purpose, but that person isn't paying attention to how much he/she is taking, and ends up killing himself/herself.

Actually, he didn't overdose on purpose,

He took sleeping pills and another drug that he didn't know that he couldn't take with the sleeping pills. It was an accident.

No one is really sure what killed him but he was on medication and he took a sleeping pill. He didn't OD on sleeping pills, he just didn't realize that he couldn't take both at once. It was a sad mistake and a good actor was lost.

It's partly his doctors fault. Assuming he went through legal channels to get his meds. His doctor should have known the stuff he was on could affect him badly.

Basically, this is how it went.

1) A month before filming, Heath Ledger puts himself in a dark room. He may have taken depressants but that is not confirmed.

2) Once he was done filming, he was immediately put on anti-depressants.

3) Ledger started drinking alcohol with his medicine and apparently was prescribed more since alcohol is a depressant.

4) Too much medicine leads to overdose.

It is accidental because Ledger did not purposely take too many pills. The doctors prescribed him too much. I hope this answers all of your questions.

Yeah. Everyone in that movie played their part perfect. I'm still not sure on the one who played Rachael. Something just felt off on her. However, Christian Bale, Morgan Freeman, Heath Ledger, the person who played Gordon, the person who played Harvey Dent and the person who played Alfred, were brilliant. Such a brutal ending for the best darn Joker the world has ever seen. Such a creative mind. If he wasn't a chaotic Psychopath and if his dad wasn't an idiot, we could of had the perfect architect their. Bold, daring, and thinking outside of the box.
