I see that MANY people on this website have no clue what a SteamID is. If there is a topic that already explains this then feel free to lock it, Mods.
Ok, Steam is pretty much a program that runs on your computer. This is needed to play certain games, usually games that have the ability to go online. These games include, but are not limited to, Half-Life (1, 2, 2:ep1, 2:ep2, Blue Shift, Deathmatch 1 and 2, and Lost coast. Yes I know, very popular game) also Counter Strike, CS: Source, Team Fortress (1 and 2), and many, many more. These games are accesed through a Steam Account. Yes they cost money, but you are able to buy certain games in packs. Like Orange Box that recently came out, this includes most of the games I listed + Portal, and yes Portal is also used through Steam.
So what is a SteamId? It is the Id you use on your Steam Account. Very simple right? And Personally I think Steam has Impressive games, so don't get caught up in the Halo hype. Halo is alright, but I like more in depth, puzzle solving games. Half Life is an FPS game, where such skills are needed.

Well I hope I helped Clear up some confusion about the SteamID issue. Thanks for your time, and have a nice day. XD
Oh and one last detail. Games used on Steam are usually rated M, meaning you need to be 17+ (ages may vary, depending where you live)
can't tell you how many times kids used there mic on Counter Strike While I was Playing. They usually get kicked by Admins, or even get the Ban Hammer. lol
If never seomeone wanna play to Gmod, DoD, CS:Source, tf2 ... etc with me just ask me xD
Anyway, Steam is a result of a Valve Experience ... The reason i say that is because without valve, they some possibilities that steam was not born
Anyway, don't forgot that for buy games trough steam you need a credit-card . Or you buy the game in real-life and type the CD-Key in steam to attach the game to your SteamID... ^w^ Kalio Kalio !
Well, trough Steam you can Download Demos, Full games, videos, mods, etc. They are all Valves games, and games of others Devellopers/Editors !
Steam FTW !
The download and installation of the game begin automacly after you buy it... no time to wait .
If the CD-Key is already attached to a another SteamID you cannot use it a second time .
Not all games CD-Key can be activated trough Steam, like BF2 ... ^^ ... but now i think about that... i think CD-Key typing only work with valves games ? Anyway just try yourself, there -> http://steampowered.com "http : // steampowered dot com"
And why i saying all this to you!? maybe im just bored :3
That's right, Volsky, you can download right from the site. But I usually just buy the packs at the store and attach them to steam. Oh, did you know you can attach any online game you have on your computer to steam? I did it for a game called 2moons. Not sure what the benefits are, but it keeps everything in order. Current games I have are... Half-Life (1 and 2+ ep1 and ep2) I also play the online Deathmatch for Half-Life. Also I have CS:Source, HL:Lost Coast, Team Fortress 2, Portal, and I think that is it.
I've recently been playing Counter Strike: Source, a lot. I have over 60 hrs in the past 2 weeks. I always play Zombie Mods, You might recognize me as SiC, If you have ever played on the Zombie Mod server that I play on. It has Unlimited ammo, and no reload so it's really fun. Spend a lot of time making barricades from Zombies. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- @ChildofBodom ... Children of Bodom is an awesome band!!
tis not a problem, when the problem is easier than the answer. So being un-confused, is more confusing than being confused in the first place. lol, did i confuse you yet? or have I yet to confuse the un-confused?
