I never seem to be able to kill the monsters that make a noise that sounds like rain hitting steel when you hit them, why cant I?

mevermind, i figured it out, just use gem of oppsosite color
When it sounds like you're hitting steel, it's because their armor is higher than your damage for that gem. Try using a few purple gems earlier on the road, or make a more powerful gem.
Spread out the gems, then make higher level ones. Don't bother combining grade 1 gems because you won't get anywhere.
Combine higher level gems onto grade 1 gems of the same color(s) is fine though for advanced tactics. PM me if you're confused.
