How about if a Mod keeps reads a thread with a high amount of popularity and posts, they can give as many points as they think nessicary. (For coming up with such a crowd pleaser, like destroy bob, for instance)
This is foil proof because a Mod can check if the maker puts up way to much posts.
and say, you get more points the more varity of people (a thread with only 4 people posting on it wouldn't get as much as 10 people posting on a thread)
Firstly, we are not really looking for a new way for users to earn AP. We are content with the current system, and as far as I know there are no plans to change it.
As far as this idea... this would be a lot of work and stress for the moderators. Imagine, we would have to go through every thread to view the responses, and then judge them. Not only would different moderators have different standards, so depending on who saw it the point values might be different. But also, I could see people getting pissed if we didn't give them very many AP for a thread they created. Either way, this seems like it would be a lot of work for the moderators when they already have plenty to do. And I think it would just get people mad at us to be honest.
I just think it would drive us crazy... lol. People get way too worked up about points. That is why we had to shut down Merit_Recognition, because people weren't appreciating when we gave them out, and only noticing when it took us longer to get to and bothering us about it. It just seems like it would be more of the same. People getting greedy and anxious because their thread hadn't yet been reviewed.
OK now would be an appropriate time to point out that an easier solution to this has already been suggested. They already can give merits for comments, and I think that,s how they award merits to the people who win things like the GFX Art Battles and the poetry contest.
N00BKiller turn off your caps lock and never put it on again.I find it quite annoying when I have to read "OMG AG ISN'T ABOUT POINTS" all the time.If you have nothing to say considering the actual idea like whether its good or not, then don't post on this thread.Like I told Skater kid who pwns.It could be considered quite spamful when you do that, and its really just quite annoying.
Well its a pretty good idea, but I think people would create alternate accounts and post on their own threads and it would create even MORE work for the mods.
BlackOwt, if it wasn't because I'm supposed to be responsible with the mod tools I would ban you from AG for a week for necroing a thread that had died a natural death!!
But congrats, first time someone have managed to make me angry since I became a mod. Flamers don't even manage that.
This stopped being posted in back in AUGUST LAST YEAR! You, dear BlackOwt, is the most spamming person in this thread.
It is not necessary to lock each and every thread that no longer has a purpose, as long as people do not necro them they can lie unlocked in the depths of the sections.
