Idealy religion and Politics should be separate, but realistically it will never happen. People in this country are religious, and since religion is such an important part of peoples lives, all Politicians will play on religion to get votes. Unfortunately religion will always be interwoven with government.

That's true, especially because most people are elected for their beliefs, and most people get their beliefs from their religion.
I don't like Barack Obama because he's a Muslim!!! jk=)
To me, it does not really matter. But the fact is, the majority of the United States is, or claims to be, Christian. And lets face it, a lot of people are ignorant, and don't have the respect for other cultures that they should. There was a big uproar when people were saying he was Muslim, but I wonder if even a small percentage of those naysayers were knowledgeable or even attempted to educate themselves on the religion.
Yes, we are America, and people of any race and religion can live here. But that doesn't mean that we still don't discriminate and act ignorant about it.
I don't know if you guys have seen Fahrenheit 9/11, but Michael Moore went to a republican party for Bush. He was asking different people about their views. One woman said that she believed in Bush, and supported him, because she said he made all of his decisions with God in mind, and that she believed that God helped him in his office. So obviously, for people who are highly religious, and think that it is a position in which God should help dictate, they will only want a Christian in the White House.
I think I would vote for an atheist conservative before an atheist liberal. I respect the morals that religious people have, and I would prefer someone with Morals running my country.
I'm a Christian, but if there was a conservative athiest running against a liberal Christian, I would vote for the athiest. We aren't voting for a pastor, we're voting for a president. The only thing is, for many people, religion helps shape their views.
I don't care about BO's religon , he did help the US alot but people blame him for mistakes the last president did cough Bush............Bush started the war , he spent over 100 trillion or more i belive on this war , its about time they ended it after killing Osama bin Laden.
I already showed in a video why OBAMA IS A MUSLIM in this thread. And here is the video. Yes I definitely believe that obama is a muslim.
OH MY GOD NOT A MUSLIM! Hell forbid that we have a religious president in the white house! What is next? A Hindu? A Mormon? A CHRISTIAN? We don't want that, now do we?
