Anyways, Problems with fixing the deficit are very difficult to deal with because no one wants to be taxed more, and no one wants to have to decrease spending on things we need. The best we can do, is end war spending.
Wow, this thread started off with a bang. We are never going to pay off any of our debt. The only hope we have is to slow the rate at which we lose money. Raising taxes would actually worsen the debt. Even more people would go into foreclosure so there goes actually most taxes. You would do more damage.
I agree with Flipski that we need to try to avoid war spending. Over $1 billion a day is not exactly helping the debt. America needs to take a step back and make peace with other countries. In all reality, America only has a couple allies. Saying, "Stop helping other countries" is ridiculous. I do think celebrities should help America more but the government should stick to helping other nations.
Americans need to realize we are not the ultimate country anymore. We can't just blow up a country and everyone fears us. China is growing and so are some other countries. Those other countries have more allies and if we decided to just blow up Iraq, we go down. The only way to earn money is to spend money.
