Hurricane Gustav, a category 3 storm, is approaching New Orleans. They have already evacuated 2 million people. Will this be as bad as Katrina? Why? Remember one word responses are considered spam. Thank you.
This can also be used to discuss more hurricanes in the future.
I lived through Katrina, and the roof of my house was mostly ripped off during Rita of the same year. I don't even think that the government should even consider attempting to rebuild New Orleans or the New Orleans levy. On the news it said that it would take approximately 10 years to rebuild the levy with new repairs to ensure that it wouldn't break. If a new hurricane like Katrina or Gustav comes along every year, progress gets delayed, and even set back. SO what's the point of wasting the money?
Saw on the news that it's supposed to degrade to category 1 by the time it hits the Big Easy. Which is good news, I suppose. Even still, they're making the same mistakes with Katrina that they made after Betsy, and the city will be decimated again.
Statistically when New Orleans should be affected next: Before the end of the 2009 season
the peoples are living in a bowl....I just don't see the point of leaving ur home every summer, then moving back and spending a ton of money on repairs, and moving out for the next summer. that's why I live far from the coast.
Ah yes, New Orleans still hasn't learn their lesson. My English teacher was talking about this on Friday. New Orleans is like a death pool. Near the coast and is round so all the water can be contained in their. Yet it is new the place where Cajun rules the land and Cajun is my 2nd favorite seasoning.
It may sound insensitive, but why does New Orleans exist? After Katrina, billions of tax dollars went to rebuilding the city. Now, three years later, those billions are a complete waste. If New Orleans is rebuilt again, I will be pissed. It is just more money down the drain if we keep funding this city.
