What do you guys think about the draft (in the army of course) And do you think they should bring it back? If they did our army would be even more powerfull. But it would ruin familys and such. I am aganst it, how about you?
Also, a draft is a sign of weakness, enemy's might look at that and plot...
Also, the soldiers are untrained. They would maybe get a month or two before they went in. That would be bad. Also, when they get back they have no lives. they have to manage to scrape up a job because they have no career. And a lot of them go crazy and become homeless, or some of them lost limbs which makes it even harder to live.
Also, it could hurt the economy. Because there are less people working, in factories and such. And the Army has that many more people to supply with the gear and food and water. And there are less people to make them.
*Side note*. Police and gun owners are getting limited to the amount of bullets they can have at a time because we use so many in Iraq there are not enough.
I will take a while to get ourselves in a need for draft, we have 2.5 million soldiers, we are the largest and strongest army in the world. Also i am against it, for one thing i just dont wanna go (ya i know im lazy =D)
I still think it's stupid that guys have to register for the draft when they turn 18, or face time in jail/major fines. Politicians have said that we will never need it, so why even bother having us sign up for it?
I think its a bad idea. In America, we have freedom to do just about anything that we want, within reason of course. I believe that choosing whether or not you go to fight and risk your life should be one of those decisions.
I would be suprised if the draft was reinstated, but I wouldn't be scared of it. I would be proud to serve my country in one of the most honorable ways possible. but, as I said, In this world where the public's view of politicians is everything, I don't think it will happen in the time when I would be called to serve.
If McCain is elected and we wind up going to war with Russia, then yes there will be a draft. The reason i think we could go to war with Russia if McCain is elected is because he and Palin support Georgia becomeing a member of NATO and it is policy to militarily support a NATO nation that comes under attack. So, if Georgia is in NATO and Russia attacks Georgia, then USA attacks RUSSIA and we have a draft.
Well, I am a bit neutral about a draft. If what dizzyk said happens, I would be prime age to be drafted, and if I had to, I would serve my country proudly. I still don't think a draft will be necessary in the next 15-20 years, at least.
