Hello and welcome!

This is a spin-off of the original GFX Art Battle, but with some updated rules and changes. Please make sure to read the rules before entering, since they have been modified. Good luck, we look forward to seeing some creative artistic entries!

Competition Rules
1. Must be hand drawn, either on paper or in a program. It can then be manipulated in an graphics program. But unoriginal artwork cannot be used as the main focus. Copyrighted images cannot be used. All pieces containing copyrighted images will be disqualified.
2. Submissions must follow the current theme that has been chosen by a moderator for that week. If you submit more than one piece, please clarify which one you would like to be judged.
3. If your image is larger than 600 pixels wide, please provide a link to the image instead of posting it in the forum. Otherwise, the image will be cut off.
4. Artists cannot win in subsequent weeks. You can still submit, but if you won the week before, you cannot get first place again the next week.
5. After the deadline, a moderator will pick the winner, and they will be awarded a 25 AP award.

You can always do the judging now.

The way I see it, all the entries are in, the judging is just late.

It would of been judged already if it wasn't for me wanting another hour or 2...so everybody blame this guy for the delay.

Currently 1:05 am here. So I do not think so > >
And if it was directed at Zophia: She has limited network and has been offline the last hour.

Okay, quick judging to end this fantastically long round.

Fugly drawing by me:

I really ought to try and fix the mistakes so it is actually worth looking at.
Anyways.

Rather hard to find a winner, since horses are rather hard to draw, and there was a low amount of entries... But yeah, 8 entries with my own, so... Top 2.

First place.
Goumas.
<br>http://i693.photobucket.com/albums/vv296/goumas13/horses.jpg

Because front and back view of a horse is enough to make artists strangle themselves with shoelaces.
I just wonder one thing: You drawings often look a bit like... Idk, nevermind.

Second.
Pixie.

Wobbly horse is wobbly. Otherwise a good way of getting around actually drawing a horse (meaning all the details), and it does not look completely off.

Anyway, for the rest *can already hear complaint*.

Parrot.

It is a little sad with the smudging. It does not make it look remarkably better in the sense that the smudging is not smooth.
There are a few mistakes, which is a little sad.
Good advice would be to take a look at some of the tutorials on dA, because I am sure those would help a bit when it comes to detail.

I think I sad was there was to say. It is not as stiff as your drawings has a tendency of being, but it still needs a bit of a push to look... Alive.
Sad you printer killed the colours, though.
The butt/hindlegs are still bothering me...

Hectichermit.

The chainmail must have taken ages..
Two things: The use of filters should be limited. In this case it actually ruined the drawing to me, because it ended up looking like a plastic figure.
And poor horse with all those plates > >
One thing that I found remarkable well made was the mouth on the other hand. It actually look rather good.
Keep shadows in mind.

Crimson.

Awesomesauce title, btw.
Shadows = gooooood! In other words: It does look better than the ones without.
Besides Sasquatch's head looking a bit rectangular, but that is a minor detail that might be intended so no more words about that.

And to end up the theme:
Zega.

You got the advice and such before, so I will just leave it at that.

Yup. I am not sure how you can obtain the merit, but... Throw me a comment, and I will make sure to get it done with, okay?
Hmm, and making up a deadline I have the time for judging with...

Theme: Time
Deadline: Thursday 24th

Why, thank you.
I would have fixed it, but I lack a mod to delete stuff, and I found it unnecessary to post it all again for that. Especially with cocky users like you.

That entry still reminds me of some of the stereotype horse-sheets for... Education or what not...
Nevermind.

Well I only used one filter...the Emboss B) and then I made multiple layers with color adjustments to contrast and such till it seem to fit...yea I know the shadows off cause I did it kinda quick. Well lets see just search "horse armor" and see what comes up, theres alot of plate on some B) horses are strong if they can hold a human with 60 + lbs of armor...like 250-300 lbs give or take then why not a few more lbs to save its own skin

Heavy cavalry's horses were armored, but the legs were not. The horse legs break quite easily, so the animal could get injured or could have trouble moving because of the armor.

I'm sorry, I'm just a little pissed at the judging I just thought time and effort were apart of the criteria.

Congratulations goumas for winning.

I seriously want to be really mean right now, but I will hold it all in. :|

It is. Along with being original, funny, interesting, creative and many more.
If time and effort was what it took, I would have had won a lot more. Getting pissed at the judging is not the answer. Getting pissed at me for judging the way I do is okay.
Also, just look at the entries. There is not much to choose from they are all rather... "Here is a horse" like. It was darn hard to choose, but yours did not really give me anything but "That looks nice. Hey beard".
So go on being pissed at me.

Actually not correct. I do not care that people are mad at me, because I do not think I have done anything to make them mad.
Especially not when they are cursing at me for drawing well, because if they want me to stop, they could just ask.

I am not sure why you are mad at me, though. Because you did not win? To be honest I believe there was more focus on the rider and the flag than the horse.
For that sake I would not have chosen mine either if I had had the chance. Too many mistakes and the pose is stiff considering it is supposed to be water.
Yours was probably better than mine, but out of them all... I chose the more interesting.

Last thing (not justifying a thing, but is good to keep in mind): this was a quick judging by me done when I woke up after having slept for six hours. Be happy that it is done and work on the next entry instead of holding on to what has been a hard, long and annoying round to most of us.

It isn't about winning.

You know what, its alright because I have the original and I know how much better it looks then the scanned version and I admit that the scanner took away a good bit of what I did. So I'm picturing my original when you are judging the scanned one.

Back to the first thing I said, It isn't about winning. It's about not even placing

No more anger from Bronze and if you ever want me to judge I'll do it.
