Hello and welcome!

This is a spin-off of the original GFX Art Battle, but with some updated rules and changes. Please make sure to read the rules before entering, since they have been modified. Good luck, we look forward to seeing some creative artistic entries!

Competition Rules
1. Must be hand drawn, either on paper or in a program. It can then be manipulated in an graphics program. But unoriginal artwork cannot be used as the main focus. Copyrighted images cannot be used. All pieces containing copyrighted images will be disqualified.
2. Submissions must follow the current theme that has been chosen by a moderator for that week. If you submit more than one piece, please clarify which one you would like to be judged.
3. If your image is larger than 600 pixels wide, please provide a link to the image instead of posting it in the forum. Otherwise, the image will be cut off.
4. Artists cannot win in subsequent weeks. You can still submit, but if you won the week before, you cannot get first place again the next week.
5. After the deadline, a moderator will pick the winner, and they will be awarded a 25 AP award.

Size well don't think it matters much but I think the max width before the scroll bar pops up is 600 pixels height I dunno but it can take up a whole page...

Generally it would be nice if people kept their images below 660 pixels wide. Because then we can actually see the entire thing without having to scroll sideways.

Or one of those math thingies.

It's one of those math thingies, it's the radical symbol.

Not very much to choose from with 5 entries, so I think I need to add more time to the deadline. Thanks to all of you who participated, and lets get this round judged. Oh, I'm feeling a lot better if any of you cared (probably not).

Here' goes...

Winner (1st...): SilentQ

http://img690.imageshack.us/img690/9116/radicalb.png

More than just the radical sign, the colors and shapes work on their own too. I like how the background is a little out of focus, very nice effect (I have no idea how hard that is to apply...). The little speed lines offer a nice feeling of movement, space is used well. Well done.

That dude is very radical. The shading is subtle and well done. Nice lines. If anything else could of been done I would say a little more detail, but an overall nice piece o' MS* Paint.

Reton8

A lot good stuff here. You did the wave pretty dang good. Master Splinter is extremely well done, especially his right hand. I do have a few annoyances though, everything in the background could be taken away. They do more to take away than to add. Just remember that simpler is sometimes better, especially when there is suppose to be one main focus to a piece (Master Splinter).

Kirby

It's a little to dark, when I think radical I think very BRIGHT (cue in Silent's picture), but the shapes are excellent. Oh and I noticed the Rick Astley picture kirby, I was just feeling to bad to give it what it deserved. So here you go, a 'job well done' sticker

Goumas

Thanks goumas for entering your 30 second piece xD. No seriously, I think you made enough entries for the winner to qualify for a merit. And about the piece, it's nice and simple. SilentQ already used the radical sign, but I'm sure you didn't notice. If you did notice, then you get a stern face for copying :P

Yay! I want epic pieces for the next theme of...

OUTBREAK!!

...and to give you enough time, the deadline will be 2 weeks! So not this next monday, but the one following that.
That means I want you guys to take your time, no rush.

Get to it and goodluck.

Yeah he liked my joke! You are the second ever person here that finds one of my jokes funny.

I will try to make something more serious for this round if I find some time.
