This is a spin-off of the original GFX Art Battle, but with some updated rules and changes. Please make sure to read the rules before entering, since they have been modified. Good luck, we look forward to seeing some creative artistic entries!
Competition Rules 1. Must be hand drawn, either on paper or in a program. It can then be manipulated in an graphics program. But unoriginal artwork cannot be used as the main focus. Copyrighted images cannot be used. All pieces containing copyrighted images will be disqualified. 2. Submissions must follow the current theme that has been chosen by a moderator for that week. If you submit more than one piece, please clarify which one you would like to be judged. 3. If your image is larger than 600 pixels wide, please provide a link to the image instead of posting it in the forum. Otherwise, the image will be cut off. 4. Artists cannot win in subsequent weeks. You can still submit, but if you won the week before, you cannot get first place again the next week. 5. After the deadline, a moderator will pick the winner, and they will be awarded a 25 AP award.
C: We have never agreed this much on the top, ehm, two before, have we? Z: We have not, no. Or well, maybe we have, but not that much and that quickly. C: Well, with five entries, it should be weird if we started fighting anyway. On the other hand we have fought about less. Z: Exactly. Let's get to it, though, now that you're here to kick me into judging and all~ No champ's thing? C: *bow* That is what I am here for, yes. No chap, nope. We got a judge one *coughcoughminecough* but that is besides the point. Z: No no, post iiiiiiit! Because your fireshifter scribble is nifty~ C: T T
I see no nifty. Z: I see plenty~ Also interesting interpretation of the theme.
But onwards!
1st place: C: JereN
Which is cool. Z: Would have been nice of him to resize it a bit, though. But people seem to have stopped even trying to fit their images within the 670 pixels width of the threads... That aside, poor guy~ And nice job on the perspective~ C: One of those pieces that would work well, if not better, without the text. The "More time" floating around is a bit unnecessary to me. I think it was Bronze who said it was fun to look at the guy then scroll up and look ath the blade. I agree, and it is really a marvellous piece of work. Z: ^^
2nd place: C: Speaking of the devil: Bronze!
That guy is so fail that he is win. Z: Also, pretty good colouring job, though I'm sure the scanner ate part of it. C: Scanners are always hungry. And I think I have seen comics in that style before, and will therefore say the outrageous thing that it is very well caught in your drawing. Z: And well deserving of second place~ I just think JereN's was a more ... timely interpretation of the theme, or something like that. C: And actually works without a text, which this does not. Not that it is a factor. It is a petpeevee. Z: *nod* C: Onwards! The rest of the people. Hec
Oh look, time once again shown without a clock! Sadly the 'worn' feeling you seemingly wanted is... not showing. Z: More of a ... copper (or is it bronze?) ire...d(?) by time? You know, that brown metal that turns green after being exposed to water for quite a while? C: I think I know what he wanted, but metal when rusting does not end up looking like stone, which is what I think it look like. Darn granite, actually. But yes. Z: Interesting to see such an entry for once, though^^ C: Verily so. Marton.
Eye of time. Or... Weird looking clock. Z: It's scary :< C: It is a clock. What are you afraid of? It ticking at you? Z: Do you have any idea how pointy the arms of those things can be? C: You know, there is usually glass between the arms and you. Z: Doesn't look like there is so on that one. And it has a mean look. C: ....... Anyway. Last but not least: Zega.
Note that we are not going to choose which is the better, that is what you should do yourself, so we simply took the first. Or rather, second. Z: We did? C: ... Correction: I am the one writing down the judging therefore I chose to take that image over the other. Z: Alright, alright, no reason to be all T T at me... Clockinclockinclock? C: T T... Yes. I liked the first one he posted better. The flowerclock. Because it actually show how much better he has become. Z: It's actually quite impressive. C: The progress? I honestly agree. Z: Exactly~
But that was the last one? Wow. C: Choosing hard/stupid/annoying themes, I can that. Which is why... You should choose a theme this round. Z: I should? Hmm. When's the deadline? C: Hmm, let me check my schedule. .... A week from now? October 1st? Z: Hmm, sure~
Theme: Pockets Deadline: October 1st
If that's okay? C: Does Hrowan relate to that? Z: Not really~ C: Aw... Anyway. Judging done, any final words? Z: Cya next week?
*points at words petpeevee* Am I trying to be funny?
You smiled. Yes, it is a perpeevee of mine because many people seem to thing that an image cannot stand alone. This means I will look at the image and if it is worth the win, it will win, but I will comment on the use of words to get the theme down. If an entry is more heavy on text than image it will most likely not get into the top three because it is an art contest, and by art it is drawings, not the art of writing. This, however, is not always how it works.
Current theme is giving me a headache, the phrase Wocket in my Pocket just keeps ringing in my ears.
I was hoping I could relate to NewHrowan, but well.
