I don't think health points is a correct term. In battle, you don't actually bleed to death. You are damaged until you can't wistand the pain and let yourself killed. I think healthpoints should be changed with resistance to trauma, because a battle tests your resistance, not blood type.

Arguments pro and contra

Yea, I always though it was strange how you can fight as effectively at 1 hp as you can at full hp. But I mean, if you are knocked out and still bleeding, you will bleed out and die. So it really isn't that far off that you get knocked unconscious and bleed out. And of course when you are playing a character, you don't feel pain. So it really isn't applicable.

you should take that more lightly, its a game and games arent allways that reallistic. but yea i see the point.
some games have taken up the topic, amongst many uncharted drakes fortune, where people fight very uneffectively when hurt(indicated by them supporting their stomach), by then the walk slower, and they will usually stick to cover. if there is no cover, they usually get enraged, and will use their last power to try and rush to you.but they still aim and fire at the same rate

I thought the HP stood for hit points. But yes it is odd that there are many inconsistencies with this. But i think it is just easier for a game developer to create a certain unit representing how many more hits you need before you kill the enemy.

Well, it's just a stupid video game!!! Why are you so concerned about the way your character dies?!

ok eddie, i did some spelling mistakes there, thats prolly why.
when you shoot someone in uncharted, they are hurt.
if they are very low on health, they will have their hand on the stomach, indicating that they are low. when they are low, they walk slower, and they stick to cover. but they still shoot as well as if they were at full health. also when they are holding the hand at their stomach, you can kill them in one punch.
this unlocks two achivements, one where you do it on 10, and one where you do it on 5 in a row. hard to get

Yea, I would agree with this. It is just much easier to keep track of when it when it is a constant level of activity, as opposed to some sort of parabolic curve downwards, as it would be in real life. Plus, it would be really frustrating to be playing a character, and in the end when you need to be really effective and kill or be killed, you can't do a whole lot.

Yes i think the HP system is more used for turn based games like pokemon on gameboy (original of course the good old days). It works for that simple type of gameplay where its just hit, wait, hit, wait until someone dies. I have seen some good variations of this for example on fight night round 3 where the more you get hit the more damage 1 punch does and the more tired the character gets etc. It works very well but i think it would be hard to think up a way of doing it in other game genres though.

in some games you actually do get weaker when your health goes down, however, in some games you get stronger!

the human body dosnt really get that much weaker from damage.
the adrenalin keeps you on your feet in the end. thats why you use adrenalin shots in the heart to keep people awake, even through extreme bleeding.of course a large shot will kill in an instant, and in the end, the body runs out of energy, even though the ind still thinks you got more... and then your heart stops=your dead
