Rap can kill over and pop daisies and no one would care.

Metal > Classic Rock > Heavy Metal > Fast Country > Country > Punk Rock > New Wave > Techno > Speed Core Techno > Hard Core Techno > Doom Metal > Monkeys > dirt > Mud > Hippo Crap on the bottom of my shoe > rap, and its associates > those who listen to rap

There are a ton of these threads. And it's obvious 99% of the forums like rock since it's a bunch of suburban Caucasian preteens and teens.

Enough said.

Also, please give reasoning!

Here's a reason. How about Rock is actual music other than people talking about their feelings and emotions with retarded dance moves and gestures? Rock actually takes skill to perform.

Rock compared to rap is like comparing a full-spirit cheerleader head to an emo to the max (no offense to those that are here).

even though this will be locked, i do prefer rock/metal to rap. Here's why:
1) rock is more based on instrumental talent, along with to some degree, vocal talent (but not as much) whereas rap is based solely on vocal talent (pre-recorded beats anyone?) Personally, i find the instrumentals to be some of the best pieces of rock around (if you like metallica, Orion, Suicide & Redemption...)
2)Rock is more diverse in nature. Look at all the subgenres, classic, hard rock, you can take it farther, and stretch its limits into some metal and punk, which share many similarities, and you have a wide variety of music to deal with. Rap, on the other hand, not so much... In fact, if anyone could even break it down into other groups, id like to see how you might do so.

So there is my opinion.

nickleback i know your going to say something about this but...
rap is better than rap. i guess its the kind of environment i only hear rap songs and latino rap songs. i dont know that seems like music and not like hard rock. but some of my friends listen to rock. i only listen to moderate rock like Blink 182, linkin Park, Green Day, old times heartbreakers and some guns and roses, and other songs. those are good but most of my songs are rap. Some rap, Lupe Fiasco, Kanye West,Jay Z, sometimes Snoop Dog send a good message and are one of the best rappers ever. they talk about how to deal with life and how to aviod all the bad things. other songs send kinda bad messages like Ice Cube, Ice Tea, Lil Wayne, T pain, etc. and have a good beat. i dont listen to the message but the beat. overall i like rap better but rock is still good. (not metal ;P)

Actually , I'm pretty weird.. IM litening to Slipkont, Guns And roses, Metallica, Van Halen.. IM also listening to 50 cent, Eminem, Tech N9ne And lots of french rappers (you wont know them...) So my opinion is that both kind are good.. all kind of musics ARE GOOD. Nobody can decide that ''Rock is great, rap sucks''...

I only like rap that has a message and cool beats or something that matters, like Eminems newer songs.
