Before I post my message, let me preface it by saying that I am in no way being racist or attacking anyone.

Why is it that in many things they always list the first black person or for example at this one hospital 1952 first black woman to graduate. What about the first white woman/man? Why is it that people highlight the fact that in that year the first minority accomplished it? Why do you never hear about the first white person or whatever race also? I think people are being hypocrites when they talk about equality but then small things like this happen...

GreatZulu638, This is the culture we live in. The generation above us is attempting to right the mistakes of the generation in front of them, and in turn pushing their overly-non-discriminatory agenda on our generation, who is almost entirely not-racist. I mean, how many of the people you know are legitimate racists, or even a little bit partial? It'll take time, but maybe, just maybe, we'll get it to 50-50. (lol, me being idealistic...haven't done that in a while...)

It happens everywhere...
Here in Los Angeles, people try to turn a blind eye to it, but that's because the Blacks and the Mexicans are in a huge turf war in South Central and East LA, and nobody wants to touch it with a 10-foot pole...

Why would somebody want to be proud to be white?

This is a very difficult question because it is difficult to determine what it actually means. It relates back to what GreatZulu said earlier: one can be proud to be a minority because of the perception of discrimination against the minority, but as you're claiming, being proud of being in the majority appears to be interpreted as a form of discrimination.

But what does pride actually mean? I believe there are different forms of pride that are more divisive than others. It is one thing to be proud in a way that you believe you are "superior" to that which is not you, and another to be proud as to be "not ashamed". Then there is the placement of this pride: is it in what you are, as a skin colour? Or is it in what you have done, and how you have coped with adversity?

Being &quotroud to be something" is a statement of identity and all statements of identity must be placed relative to something. Just as I would not recommend being &quotroud to be white" or being &quotroud to be American", I would not recommend being &quotroud to be black." Rather, I would be &quotroud to have coped with adversity" or &quotroud to stand together".

I think you can aknowledge things any way you want.

If it comes across offensive, you probably should withdraw your comment but when a positive comment infringes upon another's ideals, by law it's speech but in practice it's illegal.

So in all the technicalities, it's kind of like a scale of
-10 to positive 10 where zero doesn't exist. Just try to stay at an absolute value of 2 3 or less.

If it doesn't make sense, sorry. You'll figure it out some day.

I personally think a lot of the problems we are having now, gangs, violence, things of that nature, point back to the mega super stars, sports players, music artists, movie stars etc. When they value having multi million dollar houses, and tons of cars it seems to just promote getting rich quick, for example college sports players leaving college as soon as they can just to join the NFL, why not keep going and get a degree and have a fall back plan? Say you are a golden sports player, the school will STILL pay for your education, and the NFL will STILL want you, PLUS you will have a degree and not be a deadbeat at the end of your NFL career.

I won't point or say I place any blame on any certain music for a fact, but personally I think a lot of the degradation of our society points back to rap, (my personal opinion on the matter I don't like rap irrelevant) but in the videos and songs you heard how they tear down women and how they talk about gangs etc etc, how is that beneficial?

Movie stars are at blame too.. Sure Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt just donated millions to Africa, WHY do they not help the US? IF things are as bad as people say and things are getting worse why not help your own country? I'm not saying forget about everyone else, but if we keep giving to others, what can we give ourselves?

However, blame still should fall back on the parent, NOT others ie video games, music, movies.

People will NEVER be perfect, but maybe just maybe we will get closer...

one of the things i dont really understand is the great hate between races.. i was driving home last night and a bunch of black people were in the road and i slowed down because there were people in the road, and someone threw something at my truck.. Why? Personal opinion here.. i think that blacks have blown the idea of whites hating them so much that no matter what they hate whites. I could understand the first couple of decades after slavery ende but still?
