Iron Maiden is my personal favorite band. Why? because...
1. They are smarter then the average metal band (no pun intended)
2. Nicko Mcbrain (drummer) is AWESOME
3. They have 4 guitarists (2 lead 1 rhythm 1 base)
4. They were part of the 80's wave of British Metal, along with judist priest, they influenced may popular metal bands (such as metalicca) along the road.
5. Like metalicca, they don't just scream. There lyrics have meaning with everything they say.
Personally Metallica is my fav (and also, its Judas Priest, just so ya know) I do like some of Iron Maiden's stuff, Idk if they are "smarter" than any other band... but on the screaming, there are many songs that have screaming it them that sound awesome. If the musicians know what theyre doing, it can actually sound alright, and still allow you to understand what they say (although i do know what you mean, some bands are excessive with it now)
