I just figured since this is the board for Religion, maybe people should share their favorite verse...

I like, Romans 12:21

"Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good"

Well, this is the board for religion, but a more specific title would've been nice... and religion isn't just Christianity...

Anyway, mine is:

Genesis 25:30
He said to Jacob, "Let me eat some of that red stuff, because I'm exhausted."

By the way, what's the difference between 'religion' and 'creed?'

yeah, i was going to say to a scripture a day, and then half-way changed my mind... so im hoping a mod will change it.. (wink wink)

Yeah I don't mean for it to be just Christianity, although I am. Anything that you like I suppose...

Depends.. My definition Religion: I suppose is a set of beliefs in a faith/God, Creed: I guess a statement of those beliefs, such as We believe in the Trinity and Heaven and Hell... (or something of the such)

Revelations 20:1-3

"And I saw an angel coming down out of heaven, having the key to the Abyss and holding in his hand a great chain. He seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil, or Satan, and bound him for a thousand years. He threw him into the Abyss, and locked and sealed it over him, to keep him from deceiving the nations anymore until the thousand years were ended. After that, he must be set free for a short time."

Favorite verse, most inspiring: Joshua 1:9 "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go."

Favorite verse, most entertaining: Judges 3:21-22 "Ehud reached with his left hand, drew the sword from his right thigh and plunged it into the king's belly. Even the handle sank in after the blade, which came out his back. Ehud did not pull the sword out, and the fat closed in over it."

And never underestimate the Song of Songs/Song of Solomon.

A Creed is the beliefs, or a short statement (according to Merriam-Webster: 1: a brief authoritative formula of religious belief2: a set of fundamental beliefs ; also : a guiding principle). A religion is much larger, more organized. Most likely a system of behavior and worship etc. organized around a creed or creeds.

Here's a quote. It isn't from the Bible, but is necessary to remember this in order to get everything out of the Bible that you can:

He who does not learn from the mistakes of the past is doomed to repeat them.

Of course, even if he or she does learn, but is surrounded by people who don't, the mistakes could be repeated anyhow and with adverse affect even for those who learned.

Well, the point is that you know. You can't force others to know, they must find out for themselves. If they don't want to know, that's their problem.

Here's one:

"In the beginning God..."
Genesis 1:1a

Those four words are the most powerful ever written.

Revelation 19:11...

Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war.
