I just accidentally pressed a button and lost everything I wrote I am so pissed.
Anyways...
Most people know that I have a blind faith for AG that someday one of my ideas will create a utopian AG where people don't comment for AP and people post thoughtful and provocative posts, creating healthy debates and campfire fun. But I digress..
My idea is simply have as another thing under your name when you post, is your post to comment ratio. What I mean is how many posts you have per 1 comment. Like so:
P2C Ratio = Posts / Comments
I.E. Klaushouses P2C Ratio: 1463 / 805 = 1.8
So for every comment, I have 1.8 real forum posts. Now as you probably noticed most people would have less than one ratios, which would look bad for people, possible and hopefully posting more. With mods browsing through the forums more(which should be easier with the addition of our new mod) and doing their job deleting spammers, this could create a possibly healthy competition based on being an active and useful poster.
Now I know everyones comment is going to be this will just cause more spam on posts instead of comments. But last time I checked thats why we have mods. What's easier, perusing 11 different forum categories for spam, or over 100k users for comment spam. I think the answer is simple. And if we keep living in the fear that changing anything will cause spam then I fear the worst for AG, to make progress you need to test things out, even if only for a month or a week. If it doesn't work then revert back.
Anyways, I am sure there will be posts talking about post spam because they haven't read anything. Oh well.
P.S. I am going to be online more, I have been missing the last month or so. Sorry to the people who hate me!
Oops I forgot something. Even though there is spam the mods don't necessarily delete it. There are tons of short and stupid comments flying around that never get deleted.
Hmm this is actually quite an interesting idea.I did a calculation and my ratio would be 1.35,and that is rounded odd to the nearest hundredth.I don't know of any real cons to it,but I'm not too sure if it would work or how it would be implemented.Wouldn't this require possibly a program that calculates each set of numbers then displays them?I just don't know what they would need to do to put this into action,so I really am indifferent about this idea.
1.40 almost exactly. And anyways, Firetail necro'd the thread, so yeah, expect this to be locked soon. Anywhoo, I probably have one of the highest, since I don't chat much on the comments.
