To me, Twilight Princess is a must. Very fun game. Mario Kart is kinda a dud. Blazing Angels is quite fun. AND of COURSE, Super Smash Brawl is a HUGE MUST.
Well, for Party game, pick either Mario Kart or SSBB. Those are the good ones. For a good RPG turn strategy, Fire Emblem takes the cake. Play to what you will use it for.

I agree. Go out and buy a giant sledge hammer.. Then smash that over the wii 10 times... Then lay i gaint turd on it. It would still be the exact same system it was before you did all that.. except with btr graphics, and a much btr system XD. Just return it and get some new games for the xbox 360, cuz already most game coompanies realize the wii is a waste of their time. ex. RB2 doesn't have any good features on the wii because they realize it couldn't handle it... Not to mention how little good games they got. Go trade in the wii, get fracture, far cry 2, fall out 3, gow 2, and cod5.
Brawl Best Racer: I'd say MK Wii. Best Shooter: I'd wait for W@W. Best Platformer: Super Mario Galaxies A few games you shouldn't miss. Blast Works, a great way to pass the time, Animal Crossing: City Folk, There's some other god ones like MP3, Red Steel, MOH: H2, and a few others. Enjoy.
