Alrighty, this has been brewing in the artistic minds of a few AGers lately - an animation contest!

Similar to the Art Skills Competition we need a few rules in place (largely copy/pasted, so credits to Carlie for parts of this):
1. Must be hand drawn, either on paper or in a program. It can then be manipulated in an graphics program (GIMP is a nice free one with a build in animation filter - google it). Copyrighted images cannot be used. All pieces containing copyrighted images will be disqualified.
2. Submissions must follow the current theme. If you submit more than one piece, please clarify which one you would like to be judged.
3. If your animation is larger than 630 pixels wide, please provide a link to the animation instead of posting it in the forum. Otherwise, the animation will be cut off.
4. Artists cannot win in subsequent weeks. You can still submit, but if you won the week before, you cannot get first place again the next week. Unless only one person submits......let's hope that doesn't happen!

Alright, let's see if this kicks off.
First theme will be ~ Jumping.
It's a basic thing to learn in animation, and it can be anything from a pixelated blob performing up/down motions, to - anything jumping.

I don't know who will do the judging yet (will be me, if no one else (like Strop?) decides they'll do it).
Deadline for first round will be October 20th, since animation is a somewhat time consuming process. Go make those pixels jump!

Cool.

I hope I get a spontaneously random award!

There isn't exactly enough people for someone to not get an award...

At least... that's what I hope.

Guess what? It's been over a month, and there's only been four official entries...

Oh well, that means I should be able to do the judging quickly.
One winner and three titles, does that sound reasonable?

kingryan wins this~

Because I think he did a really good job on the water effect and colouring. Though it is an unnaturally high pace for waves and they are mismatched in rhythm, it is still well done.
And your squishy blob was also rather cute...

Cenere - the sketch

Really good, but turning in unfinished work does bring it down a grade... You lazy you.

slliM - flying water

It flows nicely, but it doesn't really look like water. It could just as well have been a blue lace. Still good work, though.

thoadthetoad - the rigid way

It's a nice idea, but very stiff water.

The challenge in animating water really is getting it to move right~

New theme: Stick figure pwnage
Deadline: December 27th

Hopefully that one will make you all a little more motivated, you stick figure lovers. :P

:O

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaa....

I just got home from school....after my last day for the year...last day of year nine...I turn on my computer and lazily wander over to AG...and find out I won a competition...wow...lol...nice end of year present!

WHOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOO I WOOOONNNNN! DO I get a merit?

And the new theme will be much better I think...because then more amateur people can join just using pivot!

Thanks Zoph!

DO I get a merit?
Currently we have no moderator sponsoring our efforts. We need a more active competition before I'll see if we can get one...
Thus the stick figure theme. :3

*resurrect*

You know, now that I have been "modified", I can totally offer a merit prize to the winner. But I won't be giving it out unless at LEAST six people enter.

Get started on your .gifs already, will ya. :P
