Alrighty, this has been brewing in the artistic minds of a few AGers lately - an animation contest!
Similar to the Art Skills Competition we need a few rules in place (largely copy/pasted, so credits to Carlie for parts of this): 1. Must be hand drawn, either on paper or in a program. It can then be manipulated in an graphics program (GIMP is a nice free one with a build in animation filter - google it). Copyrighted images cannot be used. All pieces containing copyrighted images will be disqualified. 2. Submissions must follow the current theme. If you submit more than one piece, please clarify which one you would like to be judged. 3. If your animation is larger than 630 pixels wide, please provide a link to the animation instead of posting it in the forum. Otherwise, the animation will be cut off. 4. Artists cannot win in subsequent weeks. You can still submit, but if you won the week before, you cannot get first place again the next week. Unless only one person submits......let's hope that doesn't happen!

Alright, let's see if this kicks off. First theme will be ~ Jumping. It's a basic thing to learn in animation, and it can be anything from a pixelated blob performing up/down motions, to - anything jumping. Like: I don't know who will do the judging yet (will be me, if no one else (like Strop?) decides they'll do it). Deadline for first round will be October 20th, since animation is a somewhat time consuming process. Go make those pixels jump!
its balls, but the last theme has yet to be judged, because someone has managed to procrastinat4e for over a week now.Although considering that the competition has gone on for over a month thats not really saying much.
Ermmm.....I have done half the judging...but my parents want me to go to bed because I am sick...I will finish the other half tomorrow morning and post it. THAT'S A PROMISE!!!
hmm I am still having trouble figuring out something to draw for this competition...When I do though I may not add any sound after all, because I just realized I am extremely lazy about animating things.
I guess the judging is long overdue, But now I have a quite big issue. To rhyme the judging could be quite a pain, So for this thread I may just refrain.
Ahh...to be free of rhyming! It makes posting things so much easier! Now to judge at a dial-up speed connection! Yay! Lots of fun!
*waits while entries load....*
*Eats tea....*
*Waits for entries...*
*Goes and plays tennis*
*Cleans grazes*
*procrastinates for a week*
Ok, back to judging!
Super Heroes
We had six entries this week! Good amount everyone...just enough for judging! I had a hard time judging...and I had a lot of stuff happening this week....but I got there in the end!
Jaq 267
I really liked this entry...It had a nice story to it and was animated very well. I especially liked the part at the start when the persons ice-cream fell off...and then they were crushed! I commend you on the movement of the superhero as it was very fluent and smooth.
Overally a very good effort which has earned you first place. Well Done! Post on...*thinks* Strop's profile (once again I haven't told him about this) to recieve your merit!
This was a very funny entry...and I was very tempted - and still am - to make an animation with voice with someone falling off a building with the whole 'ARGGHHHHH' and 'WHOOOSSHH' as the superhero got closer...repeated on and on...
That was by far my favourite bit...as well as the weird dance of the super hero as he heard the cry for help.
The animation was very well done...although I am not sure how easy it is to do on that site...and I liked the way looped almost perfectly.
Crimsonblade55
This entry made me Lol Crimson...although I would have to say Sasquatch looks better in still images than in animations...mainly because of the colour and stuff...But overall a good idea.
I liked the 'Why so Unconscious' joke...made me laugh, although Sasquatch falls very slowly...and that capsicum hit him at a very slow speed...so the force wouldn't be very great...(yay for F=MA)
Other Entries
Ok...here are the other entries...In no particular order...well the order in which they appear on page 33...
The 100+ Superheroes in Under a Minute Award - MikeReject95
Well maybe 100+ is an exaggeration, but you still managed to fit a whole heap of superheroes in a small amount of time...so well done! The main reason that it didn't place was that it was too quick and shambled...maybe play around with framne rate next time and make the animation more followable.
Good Effort Though.
The I Destroyed the Roof Award - Peter123
This is a very good first animation Peter...and it is funny too! Maybe next time try and fix up the frame rate so that it runs smoother, good try though!
Welcome to the Animation Contest...I hope to see more animations from you in the future.
This was a good try, however very rough and a lot more effort could have been put into it. The idea is there...however it seems to have been slightly lost in translation. Try next time to make it more fluent and more clean.
Good Try though...I hope to see a more improved entry next time...because the potential is there!
Summing Up...
Well, I finally finished the judging! I would like to apologise for the long delay...but I have had a lot of school work to complete and to top it all off I got a cold...and I have been having some social problems too. But it is done now! So SMILE!!
The next contest started mid week...
Theme: Balls End Date: Around the end of April...hopefully during my week off of school in three weeks time.
