Alrighty, this has been brewing in the artistic minds of a few AGers lately - an animation contest!
Similar to the Art Skills Competition we need a few rules in place (largely copy/pasted, so credits to Carlie for parts of this): 1. Must be hand drawn, either on paper or in a program. It can then be manipulated in an graphics program (GIMP is a nice free one with a build in animation filter - google it). Copyrighted images cannot be used. All pieces containing copyrighted images will be disqualified. 2. Submissions must follow the current theme. If you submit more than one piece, please clarify which one you would like to be judged. 3. If your animation is larger than 630 pixels wide, please provide a link to the animation instead of posting it in the forum. Otherwise, the animation will be cut off. 4. Artists cannot win in subsequent weeks. You can still submit, but if you won the week before, you cannot get first place again the next week. Unless only one person submits......let's hope that doesn't happen!

Alright, let's see if this kicks off. First theme will be ~ Jumping. It's a basic thing to learn in animation, and it can be anything from a pixelated blob performing up/down motions, to - anything jumping. Like: I don't know who will do the judging yet (will be me, if no one else (like Strop?) decides they'll do it). Deadline for first round will be October 20th, since animation is a somewhat time consuming process. Go make those pixels jump!
It is freakin hard to keep the announcement board updated when half or more of the deadlines are overdue! Could we please get on with this? People seem to have fun and be inspired by these to make interesting animations, and even though there is only a few submitting, there is still a responsibility to those. The deadline was said to be late April, and we are in the middle of May now. Anyway, posted the announcement once again.
Well, I have no idea of the deadline for most of the contests due to people delaying it or simply does not put it in. I am not aware of the judges most of the time, because the Poetry contests seem to lack a judge, this... Might need one as well, the writer's... I dunno... And I am pretty sure it is KR judging the pokemon one, but there has seemingly never been a deadline...
So yeah... And judging from the ammount of posts in that thread that is made by me, I seem to be the official announcer (don't tell Strop).
Ok...Judging time I suppose...since Cenere is basically saying that I have to do it now or I get sacked!
I better get right too it then!

Well Done Random! You win! Yaaaaayyyy! Cake and apple cider for everyone!!!
Well done on the entry, it was very clever and looks very effective. Those poor, poor people. I feel especially sorry for the person with the icecream. Here I was thinking it was going to fall out of the cone like in 'Lilo and Stitch,' but he just got squashed. Poor guy.
Post on...hmmm...Zophia's profile for your extra-super-chocolately-covered-super-awesome merit.
Barn_100
Nice work on your entry Barn. It flows really smoothly and loops almost perfectly. It is very hypnotising to watch the balls bounce and bounce and bounce and bounce! Maybe work on the background next time because it the perspective of the animation compared the the 3d background makes it look strange and not fit.
Good entry though.

Yay! A stickman with super awesome soccer skills! I liked the way that you tried to pull of the slow motion of the guy kicking the ball in the air, however that sadly didn't work as well as expected, try slowing the animation down in that spot (by adding more frames and having smaller movements) before he hits it. Good try with that though.
One small thing that I don't get is how he kicks it at the supposed wall and it bounces back at him, and then later he kicks it and it goes through the wall...My only explanation is that it is like the Home Run Contest in Smash Bros. Brawl and there is a breakable wall there...
Summing Up...
Well, that was a very quick judging. It is slightly sad to know that it was quick due to lack of entries, so maybe an actual deadline is in order. I hope that some of the usual people will return next competition...*nudges Crimson and throws brick at Zoph*...
Hmm...so the next theme is going to be....
Theme: Icecreams Deadline: 30th May
Yes, that is right! Icecreams. Whether it is an icecream that comes to life, people losing their icecreams to the ground, super tall icrecream cones that kill birds or something along those lines, anything involving some kind of icecream will be allowed.
And yes, there is a deadline which will be adhered too. No matter how many entries there are I will judge on the 30th of May. So basically, ENTER!!!

Holy -you must be kidding expression that expresses happiness-
I won!!!!!!!!!
And that animation was inspired by my friend, we were playing soccer and the ball hi in the ice cream, and the ice cream.
And I get a merit? Funny thing, I wasn't aware of that.
I won!!!
Sorry, I'm so happy.
The next round will be ice cream? Hm.. think I can make something, I will take more time because of the exams, homeworks and basketball trainings.
