I did win scariest story award during a scary story contest, but that was a different story reaching about 3 27 line pages. That one was also placed in early century Albuquerque NM. I would have gotten 2nd most well written one if it wasn't for my class being over 1/2 girls and their "hotty" had went into the contest with the crappiest story I ever heard *sighs* Damn, I sure hate middle school.
There were two guys (cant remember there names) and they had a crow problem so of course they made a scarecrow and the treated it like crap if they didnt like eachothere's food they would throw it at harlod if they got mad they would take it out on harold. Well one day one of the guys heard something behind him when planting corn and he looked back nothing but harold. It was raining they brought him inside and left him in that barn. Once the rain cleard (week later) They were taking the cows down they forgot the milk buckets one guy went after awhile the other person went back to check. there on th roof was harlod eating his flesh that was ripped apart on bronze tanned roof harold looked at the other guy and did an evil smile and started running after him he caught up and ripped him apart starting with his face.
"Man, I'm running out of gas!" Said I in the middle of a storm. I looked over and saw my orange haired honey. I loved her so much, I don't know what would happen if I lost her. Shaking off dirty thoughts, I continued driving along a desert road in a immense storm. "Jesus, only about 10 more miles left, I really hope there's a gas station soon." Thinking about several worst case scenario's, such as running over someone while in the midst of thinking or crashing from the slippery road, I stared at the road. "Honey, wake up, I just found a hotel and gas station!" I said, shaking her shoulder. "Huh? Why are we stopping?" She said drowsily. "I just found a hotel/gas stop hun, just wanted you to know," I explained. She didn't seem to care, and just wanted to go back to sleep. "Well, why don't we just get gas? I don't think we really need to be in a hotel in the middle of nowhere, the beds are probably crap anyway," She insisted. "Ok, if that's what you want" and she went back to sleep. Pulling up at the gas station portion, I found out that it was pay inside only. I locked the doors and got a raincoat on. Since there wasn't a gas station building, I figured that I had to go inside the hotel, so I did. "Yes, this is heavenly inn, how may I serve you?" The receptionist at the counter asked. "I'd like to get a full tank of gas on #2 please" I replied. "I'm sorry, all of our tanks cannot be used during a storm as fine and mighty as this, maybe tomorrow you can get a full tank." Thinking how bad my luck was, I asked for a room and went back to the car to wake up my wife. "Honey, we have to stop, the receptionist said that the gas won't work until tomorrow." "Fine, fine, I'll get my overnight bag," she said as she reluctantly got up from her resting place. Bringing in our bags, we got the room number 23. We rushed up to the hotel and was settled in. The next day, we started to hear noises. Mainly just some clanking and footsteps, so we thought it was just noisy cooks and housekeeping. The day after that, we were startled. We heard screaming, and we wanted out. The only thing keeping us here was a empty tank of gas and a horrible storm. The third day, my wife went missing. My mind began to think of so many horrible possibilities, one of which was true. After teh fourth day, all that was found was a burnt hotel in the middle of nowhere that had a sign out front that stated: May the victims of the Heavenly Inn fire rest in peace, and god help those who come near.

More spooky than scary, but I like it all the same.
oh. . .ok then. Well, the couple was in a ghost house. Everything they saw was part of 1980. Even the gas station. They died from the ghosts wanting revenge on society for no reason. The house was normally burnt down, and people who went by tended to die there, hence the "and god help those who come near"
