What's your favorite type of metal? If you don't like metal please don't post anything. Mines death metal, mostly old school bands like Death and Cannibal Corpse.
Symphonic metal? You know, the kind of thing Nightwish comes out with~ Metal has some good qualities, though it's often a bit - the same through most of a 'song'... I like the stuff with the silent, melodic passages, because it makes the rougher and louder parts have so much more of an effect.
Progressive metal for sure. But when I say that, I'm not talking about the likes of Dream Theater, who are pretty much glorified technical metal. I'm talking about bands that actually take risks with their sound, and experiment. Bands like Pain of Salvation, Opeth, Nahemah, Devin Townsend. That sort of thing.
Second favourite would have to be the death metal, but I like it when they add something extra. Septic Flesh or Anaal Nakrath (though they are probably more black and industrial metal than death).
empryion, I totally agree with you!! That is one of the best Metal bands around! I can't say of all time, because there are WAYY too many that top them.
I'm liking the prog metal lovin going on here at AG. Seems in my absence it got a bit of recognition here.
Obviously for me, PROGRESSIVE METAL<-- all types within that. Dream Theater(prog metal), Between the Buried and Me(prog metalcore),Opeth(prog death),AYREON(prog metal),Spastic Ink(Tech/prog metal), porcupine tree(prog metal), and anything else i can't currently think of.
After that it would be Metalcore: AILD, PTH, HTD, etc.
