Well, when I round a corner they often scare the hell outta me but I don't hate them. I think they're cool. And very smart... yet still freakin' scary...
Ive seen some big spiders, and it is a little scary that they can poison you, but compared to us, they are all small. They kill bugs, so there good, but i wouldn't want to see them every day :P
I keep spiders in a fish tank in my room.. I have 12 at the moment in there. A couple of them I've released and they are making cobwebs in the corners of my room, and one of them is using the window. Just thought i would let you know
Actually, one black widow bite rarely carries enough poison to kill. And I doubt its more harmful than a copperhead or rattles snake in texas. I was on a field trip and some girl got bit. Lost control of her nerves and went in her pants. And puked. And convulsed. Wow.
I lol'd hard.
I don't know how I feel about spiders so much, but I've actually done quite a bit of research on different species of tarantulas and found them to be quite extraordinary creatures.
Especially when I found out they don't breathe through there mouth.. actually through their book lungs on the bottom side of their opisthosoma!
They are very fragile and a short fall (depending on size) could kill them. Their blood does not clot so any laceration they endure needs proper medical attention right away. You can use super glue and different sorts to seal off the wound.
Lastly if you need to move them for any reason and they are very jumpy and aggressive, you can move them in a container into the fridge for a short while which will cause them to calm down. They can survive in a huge range of temperatures (at least the terrestrial species) so it doesn't hurt them at all.
Just thought I'd give some insight , I've been wanting to get a Tarantula for quite some time now.
