Lincoln, Garfield, McKinely, and JFK were all successful. Jackson, both Roosevelts, and Truman all had attempts as well. Not to mention every US president since JFK has had an assassination attempt against them (sometimes multiple attempts).
Yes, Obama (assuming he wins the presidency) will have assassination attempts against him. I don't want to see him, or anyone, die. But it may happen.
All presidents are at high risk for assassination, but I doubt Obama has an increased risk. Stuff like the KKK is pretty much gone these days, the best they have to offer is probably some drunk goon.

On the topic of destruction, Did you know that America has enough nukes to blow up the entire world... 2 times!? Put someone in the president chair we can trust. For me, that Obama. Not that McCain would blow us all up tho.
