Lols, this topic actually has nothing to do with them. But i do want you to tell me if you groaned when you saw the title of this thread =D
Now for the topic:
Obama recently over the course of his campaign has stated that he will lower the income tax for 95% of Americans. Well that is a lie, and not to mention impossible.
John McCain just made the point that Obama can't do that because 40% of Americans don't already pay income tax. So how do you lower or take away income to tax for 90% of of Americans when only 60% paid it in the first place? How is that juicy lie for you? It just goes to show Obama will beef up anything, and lie just tot win votes.
It just goes to show Obama will beef up anything, and lie just tot win votes.
And McCain isn't lying when he says that Obama will raise taxes on families that make $42,000 or less...

Then you lower the taxes on those who pay. That's a strawman argument. Obviously, people who don't pay taxes wouldn't need a taxcut in the first place. Duh.
And McCain isn't lying when he says that Obama will raise taxes on families that make $42,000 or less...
Honestly I wouldn't be suprised if Obama does.
Then you lower the taxes on those who pay. That's a strawman argument. Obviously, people who don't pay taxes wouldn't need a taxcut in the first place. Duh.
No, but he never said he would lower the taxes on 95% of Americans whom pay taxes. He just said Americans.
He voted on a bill that raised taxes of individuals making $42,000 or more. Not families who make $42,000 or less.
Considering that if you live in America and make over $32,000 a year, you're in the top 50% of moneymakers in the country, I would say that isn't bad.
Also, the tax cuts don't apply to you if you decide to skip your taxes. If he's going to lower the taxes, then it will effect those who actually pay, not the people who are too ignorant to support their country, or are otherwise exempt from taxes.
Regardless, raising taxes in the crisis that is starting to occur would be devastating.
Without taxes, funding for everything stops. Where do you think the government is going to get all this money it is using to bail out big business? Taxes. I'll find the link about the top 50% thing in a minute.
Every candidate in any election can lie their ass off. they don't have to do one damn thing they say they're going to do when they become the president.
Hell I could say we're not ever going to tax the American citizens ever again, and once I'm president take your house because I need money for the war. You don't have to do anything you say.
i think none of them because i think who eva goes is goin to put usa in more crap than it is obama talks about change but is supporting horrible groups and mccain is raising taxes. i think they both are idoits but what do i care i cant even vote
I think you should stop posting in a topic among topics only to address a certain issue with no evidence and is complete lies. Hmm.. They've both lied, they've both dealt a fair deal of slander too.
...now that's interesting, because spent a bit of time poking around the two candidate's respective websites and found that it's actually Obama that plans on raising taxes. Which, for the record, is an absolutely terrible idea.
There is so little incentive for entrepreneurs to do their thing right now. It is one of the major factors driving the current economic slump. Raising the taxes on Sole Proprietorships, Partnerships, and S-Class Corporations to 50% is only going to make it worse. Furthermore, where do you think that extra tax money is going to come from? Your paycheck.
On top of that, government enforced health-care is just a terrible idea. Medical care is a service that has its own supply and demand curve, just like any other service in the entire world. When you _force_ employers to provide health-care to their employees, it removes a tool they have to compete for workers. In response to being forced to pay this, employers are just going to cut wages further. Of course, according to Obama, employers don't HAVE to provide health insurance, but they're just going to be fined. Lose-lose situation.
But who cares, right? When Obama says things like "I Obama says things like "I support insertrandomgrouphere!" people are going to vote for him, because they refuse to be informed voters and actually look into the statement. Its absolutely appalling how many people on my campus run around saying things like "I'm voting for Obama because he supports students!" and then when you ask them "Really? How is he going to support you?" they say things like "Uhh, he says he will!"
