I thought the first was rather unappealing, but I dont know about the rest, because I havent bothered reading them.
I haven't read them, but skimmed through them, I think it's just another one of those series that gets phenominally undeserved hype, like Harry Potter, try reading something by a REAL author, like J.R.R. Tolkein, or Terry Pratchett!
they are pretty awful and boring, I really despise them
