In today's era it seems that anywhere you go you are followed by sex. You turn on Much videos, and you almost end up seeing a beautiful women almost naked. You watch commercials, and you see women nearly topless displaying adds such as rice (uncle bens) or sports equipment, or shampoo, etc... Its come to the point where you look up shoes on google, and there will be a site for feet fetish. I just wanna now your views on this question. Has the world gone into sexual amusement too far?

Well... Sex sells, isn't that what they say?
In commercials and stuff, it's often used... Because it somehow catches peoples attention.
I don't think it have gone too far. Then again, I like the industry... I wouldn't mind making money on drawing porn or designing sex toys. Yeah, I'm corrupted. :P
Also, another aspect... Is there anything wrong in more focus on sex? Knowledge is power. Knowing what you're doing gives you a greater chance of succeeding.

To sum up. No, I don't think it have gone to far, generally. But the commercials should chill down, I don't see the point in sexual approaches on rice sale...

My only real problem is commercials, and some things like shirts with stuff on them that shouldn't be seen(saw one today at school so yeah).
I honestly believe there are too many commercials advertising things that don't really need to be advertised so commercially. I mean that Bob commercial comes on nearly every commercial break, seriously? Now while it doesn't exactly say openly like other commercials advertising those products it is annoying, and makes no sense =/
They should really cool down on those areas, but otherwise hey, they can knock themselves out, I could care less.

I think that our society has gotten too sexually oriented. But it's been like this forever. It was just as bad 100years ago or even 1,000 years ago. It's the method that's changed. Sexuality has and always be an advertising tool. The only thing we can change is how we present ourselves, and what we choose to see as appropriate. If we present ourselves as modest, we set an example for others to follow. That's a way we can make the difference!

I'm more concerned about an abundance of violence than sexual images. I think the overt nature of sexuality in media has more to do with a general prudish nature of some societies (and I can only really speak for that in the U.S. on that score) and is a symptom of a larger problem.

I have a good article on this...quite long.

Mainly, the answer would be capitalism. The West with its rich business exploits natural human feelings for good consumerism. Since sexual feelings are perhaps the most 'addictive' of all, it is good for advertising.

Very good topic indeed. And a good debating one also. Ok so here it goes. In today's society, people including young kids are getting more introduced to new culture, or even ways. The human body grows and evolves, and today, what happened is that mostly the United States and U.K areas, are more free than others so we get the idea of experiencing many sexual encounters. We then have people that make their money off of what we today call pornography or what others call &quotorno", "Sex stars" and many others. You may also say that those adds you see in commercials, makes the person get that commercials attention, or other things which I cannot tell. But sex today is mostly to try new things and explore sexual adventures with the opposite or same sex. Rape I could talk about but let's save that for another topic!

Well, I say no it couldn't have been as worse as in the 70's or 80's when we had the "Sexual Revolution". Sex has always been approiate to a degree unless rape comes into the subject.

I believe that because of todays sexually oriented society, people are somewhat 'overfed' on sex. Now, in itself it doesn't seem all that bad... however, I do believe that we'll see a rising number of people with sexual addictions.
Sure, this can be treated with therapy, but you have to catch it in time before it gets out of hand.

And it's funny... how I see it is that things are now more out of hand than in the 70's, while that time is usually described as one where sex was all around.

I think the provocative adverts are awful as small children are watching it. If it was a programme, parents could avoid it but thee adverts will just pop-up in between shows.
Which brings me to my next point - the programmes. There are all these shows that are supposedly aimed at my age group (16-21) that only contain sex and drugs and then back to more sex. Hollyoaks is a perfect example. Honestly, it is so hard to find any woman who is not blonde and beautiful. All this is doing is sending out a message that, mainly, relationships are all about sex.
As you may be able to tell, I agree. The world is getting to involved in sex. It seems that we have gone from being ashamed of sex to suddenly over-compensating and rejoicing in it. The world needs a middle ground where it is comfortable with sex but not celebrating it like it is all that matters.

I think it is a logical way attract attention to products. What would get you to pay attention more than a half dressed woman?

Anyways. I don't think the United States is overly sexual at all. I actually think that we are the most modest about it, and we usually try to keep such themes out of mainstream media. If you go to Europe or other countries, they are much much much upfront and forward about using sex to sell things, get attention, etc. And they do not have as much censorship on television.

Just because we show a good looking woman in a commercial doesn't mean we are being overly sexual. Good looking people are appealing and create a positive connection to the products. We are generally much less openly sexual than other countries, and I do believe its a good thing.

I think you know my answer to that, lol.

Movies and TV shows is something else. Sometimes those have some sexual things that are really not neccessary. I blame the lenient ratings on movies. I've seen alot of PG13 movies that needed to be R.

But I have to agree. Girls in skimpy clothing advertising someting really will get your attention. It's just a method. As long as the woman's parts are covered, there isn't really a problem.

Sex has been exploited for commercial purposes... Going to the old '50's saying "sex sells." Sex is not being exploited per se, but it has gotten a bit useful in commercial purposes. Besides that, Europe has no sexual censorship, so...

Companies would do anything to get their product(s) to sell. They will simply get a beautiful woman, give her revealing clothes, and make her act in front of the product, people instead shift their eyes to the woman instead of the product and say, "Hey, I gotta have some of that!", but instead of the woman they were after, they went after the product.

Think of it as the police dog and the tennis ball. He wants the ball really badly, but ends up grabbing drugs instead.
