Obama wants to raise taxes for high-income families, and lower taxes for low-income families. I think this is a good idea because low-income families, like mine, for example, have a tough time getting basic necesseties, what's your opinion?

I agree it is sad that $32,000 is the 50th percentile for annual salaries, but the people who make up the bottom half of that statistic probably are that way for a reason.

Sooo, when someone goes bankrupt because their house was foreclosed and they have to repay the bank due to bad loans, initiated by an interest rate that our current President decided to cut, it's his or her fault that they are suddenly broke? I guess so.

When someone immigrates to the United States, and can find no other jobs than those that pay minimum wage due to the language barrier, it is their fault?

People can't help themselves if we don't help them first. There's limits to welfare, and under no circumstances is Obama a socialist. If we're going to point fingers because he's on the same side of the political spectrum as communism and socialism, then I might as well say that McCain is a Nazi.

Lets make it clear that the tax cut goes to anyone making less then $200,000 a year. So thats 95% of the American population. "Poor" is not a good word, lol.

Good excuse for getting out of anything. You ended up in that mess, I didn't, yay me!

Good one. Anyone Republicans (or America as a whole) doesn't like is 'socialist', and if they really hate them, 'communist'.

And Apparently taxing the rich a bit more to help the rest of the population is a "wealth distribution", which of course is evil.

Duh, that would mean that poor people might get closer to associating with rich people. And that would mean getting dirt on the new Persian rug, now wouldn't it?

My dad has a PhD in physical oceanography, and was a Professor with full tenure at Texas A&M. He brought in millions of dollars of research funding and grants, and he only got paid little over $100,000 a year.

Education doesn't necessarily mean high pay. Obama's tax cuts are more or less aimed at those with an extreme excess of wealth.

Yeah education wont get you such pay. Only businesses earn over $200k a year and I suppose you can call a doctor a businessmen. The wealth they earn is ridiculous. Charging people massive amounts of sums for their health.

I think it's pretty fair. That's how things should be. I mean if a family has nothing much to spend for themselves, why would they be paying higher taxes?

He said that he would lower taxes for families who earn under $200000 every year, so it's not really low income families since my family is well and we can afford things, but it's more like middle class and higher. Having said that I think that it's a great thing to do since the rich shouldn't get richer and the poor get poorer, it should be that the poor get richer and the rich get richer(since they already do without taxes).

In my opinion, he is punishing the people who made a good investing choice, or someone who worked hard, got an education, and is now reaping the benefits of his choices.

Do all you low income people, do you want to get wealthy one day. Do you acctualy think you will be better off in the long run. If you are unhappy what do you think will make you so much more happy.
There will be change alright. If you make under 300.000 no 250 no 200 no 150 no 100.000, how low will he drop the tag of rich people down to 75.000. LOL

Tch. That would only happen if the majority is dirt poor. (or if the value of the dollar skyrockets)
