Absoulutley not. that was from a time period when pepole could not get to a voting station. now it is usless.

Well, when the US was formed, the electoral college was created to (in part) put the choice of the president out of the direct hands of the people. That's also why Senators were originally chosen by the state legislatures.

Extremists could hack the system... Some people could effectively take control...
