As horrible a situation as this can pose for the US, we users of AG need citations for threads belonging to the World Events forum. Please come back and post the correct link where you got this information from.
Just about every single small manufacturing item imported to the US is from China and the main reason is:
HUGE population + moderately small country
If you took a glance at these Chinese Factories while on a shift, its not pretty. They are cramped and cramped by many Chinese employee with minimum wage of like 1,000,000 yen or something a year. I don't know Chinese currencies. It's horrible though >_>
china uses the yuan. 1yuan =$7 American approx. and they are payed 20 yuan a day. America has a higher standard of living compared to china and would have to pay their workers a lot more(can someone post a average low American wage here) however, china standards are rising and more people are becomming middle classed citizens in china(1,000,000,000 population approx.)
1,000,000 yen = 7 grand in us money or close to it anyway
But then again although they are still poor they manage to get through it because of their small builds which means they don't need to eat as much.(not all chinese people are small..Just a lot of them are smaller than us western people)
Plus foods cheaper and housing..And they have few luxuries
Windshift, 1,000,000 yen is like owning one million pennies, just in a tendered bill. And Blackrabbit, China has more than 2 billion citizens. And I do believe that Njarvis10 is messing with us, because he hasn't replied in his own thread.
this is bogus. we pay too much to china for them to stop producing for us, it would hurt their economy as well as ours. and even if they "officially" declared that they'd stop producing for us, there would be tons of people who'd still produce for us in china because of the money we'd pay. any of you ever heard of smuggling?
