I know further Obama threads would be locked, but, this one talks about 2 people rather than one main target.
Which black legend did a greater thing?
MLK: He put whites and blacks together in hope of peace for the world,it happened, thanks to him we now can live in peace both whites and blacks, without segregation.
Obama: He's the first black president. He looks very confident and well mannered.i have more but now lets see what AG thinks.
What about Ghandi?Anyway MLK was shot dead on his balcony but I would say MLK did a greater thing what if now the KKK were still treating them badly?
Ghandi is not american.
and Cenere..yes there is..he has proven he is capable of even eing a presidental candidate even though he's black...people say he won cuz he's black,,not true..he wont the electoral votes 304-107 over McCain (major ownage)
ARE YOU SERIOUSLY TRYING TO COMPARE THESE PEOPLE!?!?!
MLK and Obama are two COMPLETELY different people. MLK led the greatest segregation and discrimination protests that our nation has ever seen! I believe that if MLK had not done those things, we would be a different country right now. Also MLK is a BRILLIANT and moving speaker.
What has obama done for this coutry? nothing, except for the fact that he is bringing socialist concepts into the government (i.e. take from the rich and give to the poor, he is doing this through tax cuts and such). That isn't what the original concept of America was about, America USED to based on the concept that no matter how rich or poor you are, everyone has equal opportunities to rise to the top, it just might take others longer to get there. Sure obama is the first black president, but that doesn't mean squat if he doesn't do well while he is the president.

See I have to disagree since in the beginning you were considered "equal" if you were a white land owner. Not matter what Thomas Jefferson wrote *cough* owned slaves *cough* the country was not even close to such a concept. If you were a woman or a minority of some sort then you were not equal but I suppose if you were the son of a white land owner then you could raise to something.

Every single modern day president has done this. Newsflash for the people who keep throwing the word socialist around without realling knowing what it means, Obama didn't invent welfare, the social security system, medicare, food stamps, or the thousands of other programs designed to help the needy. IE.... taxing the rich who have more and giving to the needy who have less.
In the end this thread is comparing apples to oranges. Just because Obama is black and the first at something is not make him a civil rights icon or comparable to King who actually did something. Being black and winning does not a hero make.
MLK......I mean is Obama in a United States, that has A LOT of rascist people running around? No, also did MLK have the secret service to protect him from the strat of his campaigne? No.
So Obama has done good for the country, but when compared to MLK, he is living the sweet life!

i go for MLK if it wasnt for him then obama wouldnt even be known!and bassically Obama has racists stirring up against him..but it hasnt been made nationalixed..theyve attempted to killl Obama twice..yes twice.
You cannot compare (at least I cannot) yet because Obama has yet to do anything. But I'm sure Obama will do well. Also, even if he has done anything, they are completely different topics.
