I'd be emo, because I'm semi-emo. Also, emo =/= emotionally challenged. It's a style and social grouping.

Goth arn't really bad ppl if you can find the right ones, i know one who's mom stabbed someone but he is a good guy

Goth. Now I wouldnt say this style is cool or summin, but they have stood the test of time man ! They been goths for ages. Emo came about when pretty boy rock bands starting waering all that collarshirt/tie/ripped stuff/metal stud/overly styled hair etc etc etc.. Really think about it ? aand Goths seems to be more clever, they can be down about the communist bastards that run the world, All youll hear an emo talking about is how nasty his dad/school is... bleeh

The cutting thing I've heard about both emos and goths, and I doubt either are fully true, or even partially.

Automutilation is simply a (sign of a) mental disease. While there are a very small amount of people who might feel they're more 'awesome' with more cuts on their arms... I'd say the previous statement applies to them as well.

With all that being said, both gothism and emoism (lol) attract people who are not quite standard. This might (can't say for sure) result in a higher amount of people with mental illnesses. Then again, this is just a brainwave, and I haven't checked if it's true at all.

not all emos cut them selves I know a kid who calls himself goth and he said cutting himself is really gay.
