(i got this subject from the popular media thread)

do you think it is good/ bad?

personally, i think it isn't too respectful. i believe that music worshipping God should be respectful and reverent. people making rock and metal christian music is bending God to fit your life, you should change your life to worship him. Church is supposed to be a reverent place where people can sing together and pray and listen to listens and stuff.

Metal music is mostly not angry all the time. That would be most types of metal. If there are Christian bands, and they play metal, then that makes a Christian metal band! That's not impossible haha. AILD is living proof! There are others as well.

Metal isn't about anger ALL the time. That is sort of a stereotype set up by society. ALL METAL IS ABOUT DEATH AND HATRED! That is a false statement.

I don't see how Christian metal/rock could be disrespectful. Regardless of the type of music, it's still praising God. But Christian bands don't just have to sing about God and whatnot. Blindside, for instance, have a number of religious allegories in their songs (About a Burning Fire), but they also have songs about regular things, such as anger about commercialism (Die Buying), and love (Coming Back to Life, which is another religious allegory as well).

So, really, in response to JesusPriest, Christian rock and metal can be "black to an extent". It's not like they have been bounded by their religion to sing about the one subject.

Isn't this thread supposed to be under the "Popular Media" forum? The reason Christian Metal/Rock is around is because the artists are reaching out to that social group. Christian music is venturing into different genres to target those types of people. It's a smart marketing strategy. I have had friends that didn't know that some bands were christian until I pointed it out to him. After he found out, and listened to the lyrics, he was amazed on how good the message was. If you read the lyrics, the music isn't 'dark or black', it's actually really good.

I think that Christian metal/rock can be good,as long as it is used for its proper purpose:to glorify God. Different people have different tastes in music, and though some Christians will enjoy listening to hymns, others would enjoy a more upbeat sound. If a Christian metal/rock song has a good message in it, why not enjoy the song? I myself enjoy such Christian bands as Newsboys, TobyMac (though Toby Mac tends to go more towards Christian rap), Dc Talk, and many others.

Since you failed to look at my post, or acknowledge what i said in the pop. media section i'll repeat it. Look at what i'm asking you.

"What is God's Music style? I beseech you to find some where in the bible where the musical style for Christianity/Judaism(if its OT) is described for us all to use. Then i suggest you try to figure out what exactly worship is, then ask yourself, does Christian metal fit these parameters?"

uhhhh who the heck thinks all metal is satanic, black, evil, angru, etc.... Like I know there are some, and maybe the more popular ones are. It just causes a dumb stereotypical comment. It would be like me saying that rap isn't music. Now there would be plenty of argueing there. Metal is just amazing guitar riffs and solos, and pretty h-core and fast/loud beats. Drumming is quick bass, and fast and loud and h-core. And bass keeps the beat, and loud and h-core XD. But the singing can vary. Avenged Sevenfold is considered metal. There not evil, in fact many of there songs are about weird coincidences and family issues and stuff like that... like most songs are. There is a spin off band of All that remains, that base all their songs entirely off of Arnold Schwerzineger sayings. If you can hear wat the screaming guy is saying you'll find them hillarious, along with amazing guitar solos, and fast drum beats.

At JesusPriest:
Im guessing your a bible thumper... Just because they're songs are black doesn't mean that they're going to hell. Stop putting those stupid ideologies into everyday life. Just because someone may do something wrong doesn't mean they're going to hell.

Noncomformist,
The band name your looking for of the arnold schwarzenager sayings is Austrian Death Machine, and its not based of all that remains, its a production of the lead vocalist from As I Lay Dying.

I love Christian rock! In Christian rock they dont yell and scream adn stuff. They just add guitars and drums. I sometimes prefer this over regular gospel, cuz sometimes it gets boring just listening to one person singing.
