Now in today's society we have these so called "bible thumpers". Not the kind that hits bibles either. These people enforce the bible into everyday life, telling everyone if you do something wrong, YOU are gonna go to hell, and everyone should hate you. They have been messing up life for homosexuals, african americans, and anyone out of the norm. They are people where if they hear someone swear, they will yell at you, and then tell you to say lotsa prayers. If you have a different religion they hate you, and mock you, and tell you that you are going to hell. (ex. when the incident on the grey hound, [someone got his head cut off] happened, a family was going to go to their funeral and laugh because canada supported gay marriages. This family was a bible thumper family).
Personally I have built up much rage over these ppl (even thow i am christian, i find there morals horribly wrong) and if one ever told me off I would literally be forced into trying not to punch him... These people have caused so much chaos in the world. Now my question is who doesn't like Bible Thumpers, and who thinks the world would be btr without them?

Well, no one really likes the kinds of people that you call Bible thumpers, so I'm not sure how much variation you're going to get here.

I'm atheist, so I have enough pent-up rage at theists anyway, but I think that it's not a very good idea to make it seem like these fringe Christians have such a huge influence on daily life.

Are they annoying? Yes. Are they reaaaaally all that dangerous? Probably not.

One got arrested in my home town for yelling at a police officer. I guess he was mildly dangerous. And also hillareous.

This is a very debatable topic. Anything involving some of the sub topics listed can always cause heated debates. Anyone who has the right to name a group of people or judge a group a people and actually give them a name âBible Thumpersâ shouldnât be judging others either.

People are all different, and people need to accept that. Whether itâs their religion, nationality, morals, attributes, or reactions it doesnât matter. We are all the same and no one should be treated differently. I do have to admit that some people go âOverboardâ and really are turning from what they are trying to diligently preach. But itâs not our responsibility to correct or insult them back.

Kind of get my drift? In no way am I saying any of this is âOkâ but we all just need to understand that some people take things too far and that we need to let them deal with it instead of us making pointless discussions that will not change anything anyway.

I think your question is phrased in a biased way that renders it unanswerable. It feels similar to the classic "When did you stop beating your wife?"

you're just as guilty as them if you complain about it. live your own life...um...maybe the reason you complain about them is because you don't have a life of your own. live and let live.

"inb4 hes a gamer he has lots of lives" I gotta agree with you, they definitely are annoying. Even as a Christian, I can't stand people like that who simply think they're BETTER than everybody. Makes me sick.

Even though this thread could get ugly, in a way it points out a good point.

Each side of the god fence has it's own crazed fanatics which misrepresent their respective sides. The sad thing is that they get all the media attention while the normal people get left out of the public lens.
As it is, the average believer and non-believer are not that different. Only major difference is faith or lack there of.

Well obviously i already got people sending sum negative feedback... not gonna mention any names cough *tempo* cough... Anyways, I didn't mean for it to be biased, i guess i got caught up in my rage against these ignorant arragant preachers.

So supposodly I don't have a life cough *Tempo* cough, due to the fact that I am pissed off at certain people. If that makes you not have a life, it means that most poeple don't either. I may be complaining about them yes, but again most people do. The fact is, I read about the article that i listed above, and that moved me. You don't think that people going to a funeral and laughing at the man who died isn't harmful? How would you like a family of bible thumpers showing up to your funeral and laughing at you because you may have done something wrong?
The thing that makes me mad, is the fact that if you swear, they will be constantly on your @ss about it, and will to kick your @ss if you dont repent.
I can't stand these people, and I don't see how they could be allowed to live in society.
Another thing mentioned, how many people got pissed at the girl in the mist who had everyone beleiving she was the almighty ruler... Yea.... Kinda reminded me of Bible Thumpers... (and yes i have given them a name.. because i could say: those people who are deeply in love with God, and will constantly be yelling at you for every bad thing you may do or say. But that takes to long. Just like Gingers. I could say: those people with red hair, white pale faces, and freckles, where south Park made them into bodies with no souls... but again that takes to long.)

Well it's pretty fun to see how pathetic and disgusting all these fanatics (not just religious) are, but I do agree that they need help.

Gingers are bodies without souls. Ive seen one cool ginger in my whole life.

Well first off where does this idea that people with read hair and freckles have no souls come from anyways?I know that South Park had an episode about it,but where did they come up with the idea?

Anyways back on topic, people who prosecute others for having different beliefs(if they are christians atleast) then from what I have learned aobut the bible. They are most likely misguided. The thing is the Bible says to love your neighbor like they are yourself(or something similar to that) so if they are hating people and prosecuting them for their beliefs are not following the bible themselves. Also although I could be slightly off on this.I have learned quite recently that one of the reasons why jesus was actually sent was to change this. Before Christianity, the jewish theocracy apparently was much stricter then just about anyone of those bible thumpers that you refer to.Apparently there was a few extreme rules, like people could not even spit on the ground without being prosecuted on the day of worship, because it was considered watering the ground, and on the day of worship you are not supposed to do any work. One of the things that Jesuses followers tried to change after he died was those type of rules.I can't give rule details on why,as I learned about it about a month ago and my memory is a little weak.My point is that while they try to make people follow all of the rules closely. They may not be doing what is in their own gods interests.I could look into this a bit more, but as of right now I am a bit lazy.So I will leave it to the rest of you to decide.

We maybe called "Bible Thumpers" but we do not force it on you or tell you about you going to hell we are simply stating our beleifs like you do on evolution except you yell at us for saying what we beleive while you say your opinion is all that matters so really if we debated in your styles we would just have to say hey evolution has no proof so you can't brin git up so really we want to say our reasons so we can express our true opinion.

Really? I think I've seen you tell us that gay people are going to hell in the "Homsexuality" thread a couple times...And bible thumpers, by definition, are people who force Christianity on other people, by the way.

except you yell at us for saying what we beleive

And bible thumpers bomb abortion clinics, have "Pray Away the Gay" sessions, and preach about saving people's souls from burning in hell.

Could you remind me what is wrong with not wanting people to go to hell again?I agree that some radicals do things that are to say the least bad,but the thing is that as humans. We do not like it when others do things that we disagree with.I don't think it is completely because they are just simply radical religious people, but really just humans who don't like it when others tell them they are wrong. So much so that they do things that are radical.I am not trying to condone their actions but simply state that it may not be just because they are religious,or that somehow their religion is telling them to do these things.

Nothing. It's the fact that if they aren't already a devout Christian, the person probably won't want to listen to someone tell them that they are a sinner, that their whole existence is wrong, and that only an omniscient, omnipotent being can save their everlasting soul.

It's not my personal belief; I'm just using a little empathy.
