when you just started your ship is very weak so dont make the mistake to accept a battle when your on the sea. aspecially try to avoid pirates because sometimes they will attack you anyway. The first thing you need to do is open your world map and select the port -> Alesond. when your at port alesond you will sea a small rivir south of it. its a long river all the way to a small port called Banland. When your there go at to the market and your money will be NAN, its means its unlimited. then go north to Alesond again and buy yourself a gallion, 50 cannons , 1000 canon balls, 150 crew members and your the reall Master of the sea's.
another tip:
when your in a battle try to aim in front of the ship you want to hit and just hold down your X or Z button so you will shoot like 50 at a time. then wait for it untill its reloaded and hold down it again. dont shoot 1/2 balls at the same time that doesnt work well.
