We weren't the people behind it. Back then, we had an oppressive Japanese communist ruler who fancied himself a god. He sent his soldiers who worshiped him to bomb Pearl Harbor, and the Americans had to stop him... and us, apparently. Japanese and Americans are friends because the Americans freed the Japanese from the oppressive ruler and gave us Democracy. In return, we are one of the main trading bonds between ourselves.

First of all, "Japs"? Come on, are you being serious. Since when was AG in favour of totally racist titles. Also, You can't category an entire race. Some Japanese people might be lovely. Some Japanese people might not be lovely. Its the same in every race. You class people as individuals if you have to class them at all. I find the fact most people who replied feel that they have to right to class and degrade an entire race of people. Nice.
Those who are saying things about WWII really do not have a point. That was years ago they started with us in 1941. We should not judge the Japanese by what there ancestors did. America has made there shares of mistakes as well. In the end it is not up to us to stand and point fingers and say this is what is wrong with YOUR country. We need to stand up and realize what is wrong with ours and fix our problems

We sort of screwed up around 1500 A.D. too (curse you, Commodore Perry!! lol) But yeah, since we sort of isolated trade to everybody, our technological status was 500 years more primitive than what Britain's was. But that was 500 years ago =) We are much better than that, thankfully.

I think what he is trying to say is that he would like to be able to say he has more respect for his own country then another. He is not changing his views on your country, he just wants to be able to look on his own country with pride.
