As the title says how is it possible for anyone (for example god if he exists) to be omnipotent because omnipotence is defined as the power to do anything but if you could do anything could you create a rock which you can not lift? if you can't you aren't omnipotent if you can you still aren't omnipotent since you can't lift that rock can you prove me wrong?

you could create a drink that enables you to pick up the rock, as when the rock was made, you did not think of the drink, so it would be a way to lift up the rock

Then the rock can be lifted meaning the being is not omnipotent

This I consider to be a subset of the other religious discussion threads, so I'm going to lock this for the sake of tidiness.

But not before making the following point: omnipotent does not necessarily mean simultaeneously omnificient (i.e. doing everything at one time, at all times). If that were the case then the word would cease to have any meaning.

Omnipotent in any useful sense means having the power to do all things; whether paradoxes and direct contradictions count for anything is up to you.
