1. I think that in certain cases, yes, they go to far. Intentionally getting members of your crew kidnapped so that they can be held hostage is too much. I agree that something needs to be done about whaling, it is an absolutely horrible practice. But then again, what else is there to do about it but fight back? I do respect that they are doing something. And it is a lot more than the international community seems to be doing.

2. The whales are definitely the victims. If the Japanese can dish it out, well then they better be able to take it back. They are attacking innocent creatures, destroying their populations and mutilating them, all under a false guise of 'science'. If they insist on attacking whales, well then I think that invites some sort of retaliation. Whether or not the 'Whale Wars' people should be doing it or not, I don't know. But you can't do such a horrible act to another living thing without expecting the same for yourself. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

3. I watched a few episodes.

1. Yes. I have not fully considered the evidence to know whether whaling is ethically or environmentally correct though. However, I think the hero-izing of these people physically fighting whaling efforts is disgusting. Violence does not solve violence without a sticky end. I don't underestimate the beauty or the wonder of whales, but I feel that with proper regulation, whaling is a sustainable activity.
2. Both are innocent. The whales, animals without sentience, are innocent. The Japanese, who carry out a part of their culture that has been so for almost a thousand years, are also innocent. The people who attempt to forcibly destroy a culture are not innocent.
3. No, I have not watched the show.
