I like it, the only problem is that I don't have the time, and I've run out of quests. I'm too much of a cheapskate to pay for the members version.
I have had my account since back in the earliest days of Runescape. Ah, those were the times.
I also haven't missed a holiday item for the past 3 years (up until they released a Thanksgiving event last month for the first time, and I didn't know about it.
I have gotten my skills pretty high in many areas, so I do not level up as fast anymore.
My user name is Lord Renne in case anyone meets me online some time.
I played Runescape for 2 years back in the days when the version they use now was called "beta version." This game has its ups and downs and, in reality, is based for 8-13 year old kids, but this doesn't mean that you wont find people who are 40 years old still playing (no offense meant to these people).
The Pros: There are a few things that are good about Runescape. first off, it is parent appropriate. There is no realistic bloodshed and no blood actually comes out of the "things" that you kill. The second reason is that there is more to do in this game then just killing monsters. This was the main reason that i left World of Warcraft, there was really nothing to do other than kill stuff. You could play this game and not attack anything except in the tutorial if you wanted, there is absolutely no set path. The third and final reason that i thought this game was good was that the graphics, although not great, have been constantly improved and are considerably better than a number of popular games online (maple story, etc.)
The Cons: There were 2 things that i found to be unbearable about this game that ended up making me leave. The first was that the game got boring. I was a free player for a few months and soon figured out that if i wanted any real enjoyment out of the game, then i would need to become a member. So i payed the $5 a month and was exposed to a whole new world. I thought that it would be great, there were tons of new quests, new things to kill, new things to make and get, new quests, and more. It wasn't. The number of new things may seem daunting at first but when it really comes down to it, the amount of stuff that they give you really isn't that much. The only things that it really offers you that takes a significant amount of time to do are a bunch of new quests that don't take long to do and new skills to power-level through, which can get quite boring. the second reason i left was that the community was not very good. Many Runescape players play VERY seriously and can start to rant about how retarded and mean you are if you do something that hurts them in some way at all. This can be very frustrating, hearing people go on and on for a while. There are also some very odd people in the game that can make you wonder why they even play. While this can be funny, most of time, these people are annoying. Then there are the scammers. These people seem to live to make other people miserable. I was 10 when i played and very gullible. I got scammed upwards of 10 times, and this was back when Runescape was just starting to gain popularity. I don't dare think about the number of scammers in the game now. Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of people in the game that are nice, friendly, and helpful, but the people that aren't really hurt the game's overall experience.
Overall, this game is fun for a time but after a while, you'll start to wonder why on earth you ever decided to play this game.
i played runescape for 2 years until i finally got bored! It's so boring im a lvl 78 i think and i don't play anymore... so maybe i'm thinking of giving up my account
Runescape is a fast growing MMO and i like it. Its not really respected in the RPG community and I see no reason why it is. It is a good cheap alternitive to WoW or Guild Wars. Other games like maple story try to do the mmo thing but i find them to cartoony. Another mmo i like is dofus. Its a 2d mmo that is good. But i would rather play runescape.

Runescape is somewhat worse than Maplestory to me.. o.o
But anyways, try Lunia its an RPG game with MMORPG stratgies ^_^
Runescape stinks because all it is is a giant money vacuum. You can take approximately 3 steps before hitting a gate for "Memberland". You think this place would be magical but when you get to it, its all little kids with short tempers
