The government needed a bit of shaking up... There's probably going to be another election once parliament resumes next month, since Harper has stated he wants to make every vote one of confidence, and the opposition has stated they will not vote in favour of issues their ridings and fellow party members would not approve of. It's going to be interesting, that's for sure... a lot of (Canadian) people have their backs up about it. Seems to be quite a bit more partisanship than we're used to up here, which I don't think is a good thing.
I think its rediculous. The PM has only been in office for what, two months? How can you lose the 'confidence' of parliment when you haven't had time to earn it! And blaming the economic crisis for getting rid of him? That is a load of garbage. The whole world is getting railroaded, and may countries worse than Canada. This is just a case of a bunch of sore losers ganging up on a fairly elected official, essentially spitting in the face of their constituants.
