I would like to have no ones comments but mine to show on the front page.

I cant do this currently because deleting comments on my page will just pop up older ones. And I do want to use the comments area for some of my own posts, so I cannot disable it completely.

So maybe be able to have some control over the arrangement of comments?

What do you mean? I don't clearly understand. You want your comments to be the only ones shown for you?

If this is initiated, spammers will spam their walls, and mods can't warn them. Then we are left to just banning them which is not a punishment for wall spam...

If you want only your posts to show on your comments page, then how would you know if someone is contacting you? Checking maybe? And why are you posting in your own comment's box? If you must update something, it is best if you do so in your About page. I'm not sure if you heard or not, but commenting in your own profile is liable for spamming...

Ha! Now i see what he means! Yes why would you even comment yourself? Spamming! As Estel stated before they would have to ban you that instant which is not entirely fair for those who don't know about this. Another con is.... AH! Shin you stole it!
then how would you know if someone is contacting you?

...drop the spam accusations. Seriously.

He may have legitimate reasons for keeping his own comments on top so the first five comments are his and comments from other people don't show up on his profile, but will on his comment page.

Hmmm.... Why do you want to post on your comment box...? To have more AP...? That is considered spamming....

I didn't think that you got any points on your own profile. I thought that was a no AP area if it is your profile. Well maybe I'm wrong, I doesn't really matter to me because I don't really post there.

not
juan, check your facts before posting.

Nope, comments on your own profile are worth just as much as any other comment. Which some newbs realize and start spamming on their own wall.

Right, on topic now.

What would you want this feature for, Drace? I can't think of any reason for this to be useful - enlighten me?

I just want the ability to re arrange comments. Check to not show some comments on my front page to actually show on my front page.

Just for me to be able to put up my sigs without anyone elses comments :P

There are other uses though. Perhaps you don't want others to read some of the comments on your page?

@Drace
Sounds like a spammish idea.

You want to keep sigs somewhere? How about somewhere like http://www.photobucket.com? maybe even start a blog containing them, nobody has to know about the blog at Blogger?. Or even putting them on your computer, just minimize all windows, open up the one with the sigs shrink the window and drag it onto your desktop. You don't need to have them on AG anyways.

If you don't want them to read the comments then delete it. Store your stuff on Microsoft Word 07 or something like notepad.

And why did you have to double post???

Mods could still view all the comments though, maybe.

You can 'ban' a user from your profile, which blocks their ability to ever contact you, but we're not really set up for a way to filter messages at a custom level like what Drace is suggesting.

Personally, I kind of like the idea of having a "top comments" area, things you want to promote on your profile, but it's not something that will be there at launch.

As far as making status updates, etc., that's already part of AG3. Locking a status update from getting comments, I don't think that's something we envisioned needing, so we haven't built that level of control yet.

As far as doing all of this for "signature" purposes, we've stated on several occasions that we collectively hate signatures at the end of posts, and will remove them on sight. So I'd probably need a better reason as to why/how this could be a usefule/necessary feature, before I take it to the team.
