don't be a clown it may scare him. try to give him some stuff that might cheer him. or do a funny dance, tell a joke, watch a funny show. everything can cheer the guy! it will be fine.

Why don't you get all your friends and family to throw in some money and buy something nice for them. Christmas time is coming and I'm sure everyone pitching a few bucks in could get them something nice that can get their mind off of everything.

It depends what he likes, obiously. Try making him laugh or something, that works for my sister when she's hurt.
