Ok this is how it goes. You post something that is currently legal or illegal, then you say why it should be legal or illegal.

Example: Violent video games are legal.

Response 1: Violent video games should be illegal since some people do crimes because of them.

or

Response 2: Violent video games should remain legal since they make up a small fraction of violence.

Then you write a new one and the person below you answer.

Also please explain.

Here's the first one:

Alcohol.

Alcohol should be legal because everyone loves to drink.

Scientology should be legal because making it illegal would restrict people's freedom of religion and wouldn't do anything helpful.

Eating dogs is legal. (but frowned upon)

Eating a dog should be considered legal but highly monitored.

If you needed something to eat and you see a wild dog. Kill it and eat it.

Pet dogs are another story...

The right to bear arms

People should have the right to bear arms in self-defense, but it needs to be more restricted to avoid giving it to people who might not use it for such a purpose.

I assume this is not the forum for rebuttal, and that's five minutes I will never see again.

Owning a ferret should be legal because... why not?

Xzeno, you broke the chain...I shall mend the link.

Owning a ferret is legal because besides being small, furry, and smelly, they do not pose a direct threat to public health.

Making bad sequels to great movies.

Making bad sequels to great movies should be illegal, yet it will never be known if the movie is bad if it's never made (according to the viewpoint of the entire populace). There needs to be some all-knowing automated system that rates movies and their sequels. For example, there should be no Bloodsport 2.
