Wow...Most people in this thread aren't old enough to realize the brilliance behind Tropic Thunder. Although it was a comedy, it's humor was tongue-in-cheek at some points, and a lot was aimed for adult audiences with more experience movie-viewing.
Ben Stiller did a GREAT job capturing the essence of what modern war movies have become, as well as relaying that to an audience in the form of a parody. Not to mention Robert Downey Jr. as a black man, and Tom Cruise in a fat suit are both priceless.
I have yet to see Tropic Thunder but have heard good things.
I wasn't very impressed with Zohan when I saw it at the cineme. It was an ok movie as far as plot goes though. As is usual with films of this ilk many diferent types of jokes are out in, some for kids some for adults etc. I liked the inate underlying racism that ran through out. It made it very odd to watch. I may not have laughed but there was alot of "did he just say that?" looks being bandied about my group of friends.
i watched both..lol for tropic thunder i watched the beginning...and got to the part where the soldier got shot in the head and blood squirted everywhere for like an hour and then i said "yeh.." aand started playing my 360..zohan ftw
