Do you guys remember the old days?

When disney hand-drew all their movies?
Now they just put there Ideas through a computer and boom there it is.

Share your opinion on this.
Would you rather have all movies hand drawn again?
Would you rather all hand-drawn movies re-done Computerized
or do you think that the animation style of movies such as Monsters inc and Incredibles Fits the movie?

My Opinion you ask?
I Think that different types of animations make different types of movies.
Movies with computerized animation are either modern or stupid.
Movies with drawn animations are either old or foreign.
Who here has heard of Hayo Miyazaki? Spirited Away? Princess Mononoke?
What if these films were computerized? They would suck.. right?
In my opinion they would.
Computerized animation, in my opinion takes all the heart out of the movie.
That is my final comment.

Well I'm really not a Disney fan in the first place but doing the computerized stuff takes far more work than it does to draw, and plus the kids love it. I like the hand drawn ones more I'll never forget those movies when I was what three and six years old. I think the computerized issue fits those movies ,I don't think they'd be any better in the first place. Aren't those movies like spirited away anime movies?, well anime movies are supposed to be drawn they look and feel a lot better.

Well my favorite movie from Disney is the old hand drawn robin hood. I think those new ones like wall-e are just garbage.

Oh, let us all go kill of Disney!! I am fine with the cleaning and making the already nice movies better and stuff, but hell no are they going to merge with Pixar! Pixar makes great movies, Disney made great movies... I have nothing against 3D animation, but how I hate Disney for letting go of the traditions and making those eikie poo movies...
I have all kinds of respect to the traditional animator, hell, I want to become one myself, but that Disney do not want them anymore? When I found out, I was furious! And the last "tradistional" movie they made, The Muuhvie (or what'sitsname), that was a disappointment!

Oh the good old days of the 2D animation... You know, that's the field I would like to get employment in... That Disney gave up on it is really a huge disappointment...
I don't recall a 3D Disney production where I enjoyed the story. Pixar, hell yeah, they make great 3D stuff, but they are not Disney, and as Cenere I do not approve of that merge...

Donald Duck and other good ol' characters should not be made in 3D. It is just plain WRONG.

And to reply... I have heard about Hayo Miyazaki, but I can't remember...

Uhm. Love to Pixar 3D, hate to Disney going in that direction...

@Gametesta:
The lack of a critical view is what makes quality obsolete.

@Naruto:
Easier to see the graphics? How do you mean?

I dont see why there cannot be a happy medium. For the classic characters like Mickey and Daffy Duck then traditional animation should be used, however Pixar's success in the 3D field has shown that if done right then it can be good and galvanised most other companies in trying to emulate their success with toystory and the like. As for Disney making poor movies according to Cenere, at the end of the day they are a business with an aim to make money and if these schmaltzy films are what the toddlers want then fair play to them. You have to look at both sides of the coin. Personally as long as the script and storyline is good i do not much care for what style is used. Im sure i would have enjoyed the Lion King(best film ever btw!) in 3D just as much as i did in animation.

Lion King is one of the best never Disney movies for sure, but with the 3D, they seem to be going easy on it. Like "Take two, pay for four". The storylines are not that good, and they are not as good as their work as Pixar is.
I think the worst thing is that they end up letting the other parts of Disney in other contries make the handdrawns... All the second/third movies of some of the good old ones are handdrawn (as in with a tablet at least), but all the new and OHHH SO GOOD movies are all ... It is just bad. Yes, sure they have to make money, but I know that at least I would actually go to the movies and buy the dvds, if they had the same quality as the old ones.
Or at least get the same darn movements as the good old movies, or the feel of life.

I am not disputing that there has been a drop in quality in Disney films, however whether that is entirely due to their switch to 3d i am not so sure. I still think the main problem is the writers. I read an article about Pixar and how their writers are easily the best in the business and how they are given everything they need. I just think that in a more competetive market with Pixar making the Shreks, the Finding Nemos and the Toy Storys audiences want the same of Disney who are still churning out the same old films. Undoubtedly Disney have made some classics in the past but they also ade many mediocre films in the traditional style to. I just think they are catering to different audiences now, Pixar was able to appeal to both adults and kids with their films which Disney has tried to recreate and failed with 3D. Like i said before i still think good writers are the key rather than good animation otherwise it's style over substance.

Dreamworks made Shrek. Dreamworks I like, since they still seem to have some kind traditional animation.
But Pixar is really good at the 3Ds, like the newest: Wall-E.

There was a distinct feel about the old Disney movies that they simply can't recreate these days. Perhaps it's the switch from 2D to 3D, but I doubt that's all there is to it. Every animation, no matter how it's executed, stands or falls with the storyline - and I don't think the newer stories can even almost match the old ones.

The second thing I do have to note is that the animation of the newer 3D movies is usually mediocre at best. I'm a huge fan of 3D animations, but these in new movies... everything looks alike! Smooth surfaces, big eyes, cuddly cutesy movements. Why is it so hard to make movies that can compete with Advent Children? Because that's what I call a 3D movie... not a 3D flick.
Although in saying that, I already know the answer to my own question... it takes 4-5 years for a movie like AC, but 1-2 years for what Disney calls a movie.

And in the end, though Disney made quite a lot of movies that were handdrawn, I always felt the storyline was as sweet as the lovechild of a bag of sugar and a candy cane. Plus, if they made a movie out of a story, they guttered it and made it into something that was approved for all ages... anyone see Alice in Wonderland? Where did the story go?
