I don't think so. Most of the time I find the level of blood is an acceptable ammount to enhance the realism of the game. When the blood is in ammounts to exceed what is real... well thats just funny!
Kind of like in the Mel Brooks movie "Dracula: Dead and Loving it" when they put a stake through the new female vampire's heart and buckets of blood erupt out! Priceless
It depends on what it is. If it's something focused around scary horror with lots of dying people and such, like Gears of War, people complain that's in unrealistic with all the blood coming from the bodies, but that's the point of the game, it's a gory shoot em' up game. Now if it's something like the Princess Tales of the Fairy Princess II, and someone dies and a huge fountain of blood sprays everywhere and never seems to end, um, yeah o_O... And if it's to the point where the blood is pointless and it just doesn't add anything, then it's annoying and ruins everything -_-
So lazy version-it's only too much if it makes it looks stupid and your making a strange face while the princess fairy's prince of dreams gets shot in the face and a whole red river is drawn from tippy-top Russia down to South Africa...
There is no such thing as to much blood in a game xP
Red splashes are scary!! :O
I change my answer, when it's real people dying in a massacre, I can't watch (but that's just mainly the people dying, not really the blood, bu theres still blood).
At Eddie: What's going on there? I wanna know. No, I'm not strange...just different.

If that was true we wouldn't get any serious games where we could appreciate the carnage, only comedy =/ NEED SERIOUS DEATH AND DESTRUCTION, NEED DRAMATIC HEADSHOTS!!! You can tell what games I play =D
blood is great in games for realism, but the is such thing a excess, a short movie for a Japanese game had two swordsman killing each other, and at the end the whole lake the were fighting on(about 2 square miles)was completely filed with blood.
It definitely needs to be a realistic amount. Too much blood just makes things funny. I mean if there are head exploding and whatnot, blood is necessary, and even better if it splashes on the screen.
And eddie13, that's not too much blood at all, mainly because it doesn't look like it's real blood. Not dark enough, and the consistency is too viscous. It needs more cornstarch, hehe
