I got it to a point where I can yet two separate equations for the ladders, but it will take me forever to make them equal and then solve... that was always my least favorite thing in math to do!
no, I got this from one of my professors. I was able to figure out a way to get the ratio between the two similar triangles, but it is going to be trial and error finding the lengths that work.
here is the question, which I already posted earlier:
"There is an space between two buildings. The space is X units long. There are two ladders that are set up between the buildings. One ladder is 20 units long, the other is 30 units long. The ladders cross 10 feet above the ground.
Find X."
